Gauge and Finished Size

  • Gauge: about 24 sts x 34 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in stockinette in the round on US 3 needles, lightly blocked.
  • Finished height: about 10″–11″ (25–28 cm) from feet to tip of ears.

Working close to this gauge will keep proportions similar to the sample so clothes and accessories fit correctly.

Construction Overview

  • The bunny is knitted from the feet up in one piece: feet, legs, body, and head are joined as you go.
  • Arms, ears, and tail are worked separately and sewn on.
  • The cream top is a simple tee worked in the round; a small collar is added afterward.
  • The aqua pinafore dress is worked in the round from hem to bodice with strawberries added using duplicate stitch or intarsia.
  • The strawberry beanie, mint shoes, and strawberry handbag are separate pieces to complete the look.

Stuff firmly but evenly for a neat, realistic toy with clearly defined knit stitches.

Face and Basic Assembly

  1. Place safety eyes about 6–7 rnds down from top of head and spaced around 5–6 sts apart.
  2. Embroider a small pink triangle nose a couple of rounds below the eyes.
  3. With black thread, embroider a simple curved smile.
  4. Sew ears to top of head, slightly toward the back so they stand behind the future hat.
  5. Sew arms to sides of body just under the neck.
  6. Attach tail at the center back above the legs.

Set bunny aside.

Cream Short-Sleeve Top

Use cream yarn and US 3 needles. Worked in the round from neckline down, then sleeves picked up.

Body

CO 40 sts. Join to work in the round, pm.

Rnd 1–4: k1, p1 rib.
Rnd 5: k all.

Increase slightly:

Rnd 6: *k9, m1; rep from * around (44 sts).
Rnd 7–10: k all.

Separate for sleeves:

Next rnd: k8, place next 8 sts on holder (sleeve), CO 4 underarm sts, k16, place next 8 sts on holder (second sleeve), CO 4 underarm sts, k to end. (44 sts for body.)

Rnds 1–10 (body): k all for a short top ending just at bunny’s hip.
Rnds 11–13: work k1, p1 rib.
BO loosely in pattern.

Sleeves (make 2)

Transfer 8 held sts to needles. With cream yarn pick up 4 sts from underarm gap (12 sts).

Rnd 1–6: k all.
Rnd 7–8: k1, p1 rib.
BO loosely. Repeat for other sleeve.

Peter-Pan Collar

Work flat in cream.

CO 40 sts.
Row 1 (WS): p.
Row 2: *k2, kfb; rep from * across (53 sts approx).
Row 3: p.
Row 4: *k3, kfb; rep from * across (wavy edge).

BO loosely. Pin collar around neckline with RS facing outward so it forms two rounded fronts. Sew neatly around edge, leaving a small opening at center front like the photo.

Aqua Strawberry Pinafore Dress

Use aqua yarn.

Skirt

CO 72 sts. Join in the round.
Rnd 1–3: k1, p1 rib for hem.
Rnd 4–18: k all for full skirt.

Waist Shaping

Rnd 19: *k7, k2tog; rep from * (64 sts).
Rnd 20–22: k all.
Rnd 23: *k6, k2tog; rep from * (56 sts).
Rnd 24–26: k all.

Rnd 27: *k5, k2tog; rep from * (48 sts).
Rnd 28–30: k all.

BO all sts loosely. This creates a gentle gathered waist; cinch slightly when straps are attached.

Dress Straps (make 2)

CO 6 sts in aqua. Work in garter stitch (k every row) for about 4″ (10 cm), or long enough to cross from back waist, over shoulder, to front waist. BO.

Sew strap ends at back waist, cross over shoulders, and attach fronts just inside dress front so they sit close together like in the photo. You can add tiny buttons or simply sew down.

Strawberry Motifs on Skirt

Using red yarn, embroider small strawberry shapes with duplicate stitch evenly around the skirt:

  • Work a small inverted triangle of red stitches (about 3 sts wide at top, 3–4 rows tall).
  • With green yarn, add a tiny crown of 3–4 stitches on top.
  • Use a tiny bit of yellow or lighter red to add two or three “seeds” per berry.

Place one row of strawberries around the lower-middle of the skirt, and another row staggered slightly above for a look close to the photo.

Strawberry Beanie

Use red yarn and US 3 needles.

CO 52 sts. Join in the round.

Rnd 1–6: k1, p1 rib.
Rnd 7–18: k all in red.

Switch to green for leaves and stem area.

Rnd 19: *k4, k2tog; rep from * (44 sts).
Rnd 20: *k3, k2tog; rep from * (36 sts).
Rnd 21: *k2, k2tog; rep from * (27 sts).
Rnd 22: *k1, k2tog; rep from * (18 sts).
Rnd 23: *k2tog; rep from * (9 sts).

Work 3–4 more rnds in k all for a little stem tube. BO and pull end through, then knot and weave in so stem stands up slightly.

To suggest leaves, you can lightly duplicate stitch small triangular green shapes around the base of the stem, or pick up and knit tiny leaf points. The hat should sit low on the forehead with the ears standing behind it, just like the photo.

Mint Mary Jane Shoes (make 2)

Use mint green yarn.

CO 14 sts. Join in the round.

Rnd 1: k all.
Rnd 2: *k1, kfb; rep from * (21 sts).
Rnd 3–5: k all.
Rnd 6: k6, *k2tog, k1; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3 (17 sts).
Rnd 7: k all.
Rnd 8: *k2, k2tog; rep from * plus extra k at end if needed (approx. 13 sts).

Rnd 9–11: k all to form the sides around the foot.

Top edging:

Rnd 12–14: k1, p1 rib. BO loosely.

For the strap, CO 10 sts in mint, knit 3 rows garter, BO. Sew one end to inner side of shoe and the other end to outer side, leaving a small opening so a bit of beige “foot” shows through the front gap, exactly like a Mary Jane.

Strawberry Handbag

Berry Body

Use red yarn and US 2 or 3 needles.

CO 12 sts. Join to work in the round.

Rnd 1–2: k all.
Rnd 3: *k2, kfb; rep from * (16 sts).
Rnd 4–8: k all.
Rnd 9: *k2, k2tog; rep from * (12 sts).
Rnd 10: *k1, k2tog; rep from * (8 sts).

Stuff firmly to keep it plump.
Rnd 11: *k2tog; rep from * (4 sts).

Break yarn, draw through remaining sts, pull tight.

Add a few tiny yellow stitches around the body to represent seeds.

Leaves and Handle

With green yarn, pick up 8 sts evenly spaced around top opening of berry. Work flat.

Row 1: k all.
Row 2: *k2, k2tog; rep from * (6 sts).
Row 3: k all.
Row 4: *k1, k2tog; rep from * (4 sts).

BO. This small piece can be pinched into leaf shapes; tug the edges into three little points.

For the handle, CO 30 sts in green and work 3 rows garter stitch. BO and sew ends to opposite sides of the green leaf section so the bunny can “hold” the purse in one hand as in the image.

Final Assembly and Styling

  1. Dress bunny in cream top first, then pull on the aqua pinafore. Adjust gathers at waist so strawberries sit smoothly around the skirt.
  2. Put on the mint shoes, arranging them so the toes are slightly forward and the little opening shows the beige yarn of the feet.
  3. Place strawberry beanie low on the forehead, letting ears rise up just behind the hat. Secure with a few hidden stitches if needed.
  4. Position the strawberry handbag in one hand, stitching the handle gently to the paw so it hangs at the same angle as in the photo.

Your Strawberry Stroll Bunny is ready for photos on a wooden table or pastel sofa corner, with every knit stitch showing clearly. Enjoy knitting and staging this sweet little friend for your own cozy strawberry cottage scenes.
