Construction Overview

The sheep is knit mostly in the round from the feet up with separate arms, head, ears, and muzzle attached later. The blouse is part of the body (yoke/upper sleeves) and the apron dress is removable. T-strap shoes are integrated with the feet; socks are color-worked. The chef hat, basket, baguettes, tart, and fruit pieces are knit separately. The tart top accepts small removable fruits via discreet hook-and-loop/magnets.

BO. Whipstitch custard disk into shell just below the crimp ridge.

Finishing the Face

Optional Apron Pocket & Waist Tie

Pocket (MC-Butter): CO 10, work 6 rows st st, BO. Top edge: pick up 10 sts and work 2 rows k1, p1 rib; sew centered low on bodice.
Waist Tie: Knit i-cord 2 sts for 9″, thread through back waist and tie in front bow.

Assembly Order (Quick Checklist)

  1. Knit and stuff legs/feet; join for body.
  2. Shape torso and blouse yoke; separate sleeves.
  3. Knit arms; attach at armholes.
  4. Knit head, muzzle, ears; attach and embroider features.
  5. Add blouse collar and dots.
  6. Make apron dress; add straps.
  7. Add chef hat.
  8. Knit basket, baguettes, tart shell/custard, and fruit pieces; apply attachment backs; place in hands or basket.
  9. Weave all ends, final steam-block garments only from a safe distance to preserve toy firmness.

Notes for Realistic Texture & Crisp Stitches

  • Work one needle size smaller than usual for your tension to keep stitch columns sharp and dense—this highlights the knit grain on the face and clothing.
  • When changing colors (socks to body, blouse to body), twist yarns tightly at the join and knit the first rnd tbl to minimize jogs.
  • For the puff sleeves, keep hand stuffing only; leave the upper sleeve mostly unstuffed so the cuff ridge pops and the cap gathers naturally.
  • For the apron skirt, resist blocking the hem flat; the purl turning row creates a subtle structural rim that looks like a sewn hem in real photos.
  • Shape the muzzle by adding a tiny extra tuft of stuffing after the first sewing pass, then close with small ladder stitches to match the image’s soft oval.

Safety & Care

This design is intended for display and gentle play. If gifting to children, omit magnets and use only fully stitched hook-and-loop with extra reinforcement. Secure all pieces firmly. Spot clean with a damp cloth; avoid soaking stuffed parts.
