ASSEMBLY
Join Legs to Body
Pin legs to body base so feet point forward and the doll stands/sits naturally. Stitch flat leg tops to Body Rnds 2–3. Keep spacing even.
Join Body to Head
Center head over body; ladder stitch Body Rnd 20 to Head Rnd 19. Add extra stuffing under the “chin” before closing to keep a soft baby-face silhouette.
Add Muzzle, Eyes, Ears
- Position muzzle centered between eyes, bottom edging around Head Rnd 13. Stitch; add a small puff of stuffing before closing the last 4–5 sts.
- Embroider a tiny smile line and subtle nostril dots if desired.
- Pinch each ear base and attach at equal distance from crown, about 6–7 sts back from the top centerline, letting ears gently droop.
Attach Arms & Tail
- Sew arm flats to body sides just below neck slope so hands sit slightly in front of hips.
- Stitch tail at lower back center for balance.
Dress, Shoes, Apron, Hat
- Put shoes on legs.
- Slip dress from feet upward; seam bodice back with a few whipstitches (or sew a tiny snap if you prefer removable).
- Tie apron at back; let waistband bow sit off-center to the left, pocket visible on right.
- Place chef hat so band line sits just above ears; a small tack stitch inside the band keeps it secure.
Props in Hands
- Right hand (as viewed): stitch basket handle to palm with 2–3 invisible stitches; insert baguette.
- Left hand: tack plate underside to palm; angle tart slightly forward like in the photo.
FINISHING & DETAILS
- Face: embroider two short brow stitches one round above each eye for the gentle lamb expression.
- Cheeks: optional light blush with pastel chalk.
- Texture grooming: keep yarn fuzz minimal—do not over-brush; the lamb’s fleece is meant to read smooth with visible stitches.
- Straps/bows: if apron ties feel bulky, substitute a chained tie (ch 70 each side) and knot a small bow.
- Stability: if your doll leans, open neck seam and add a bit more stuffing; resew tightly.
Pattern Notes for Accuracy
- Proportions match the reference image: head larger than torso, slightly elongated face, compact round limbs; puff sleeves stop mid-upper arm; skirt falls to just above shoe tops.
- Chef hat crown is wider than head band to produce a soft dome; do not overstuff.
- Basket scale fits one mini baguette; keep round base shallow so it sits upright.
- Tart & plate are small—roughly the width of the palm—so the doll can hold it naturally.
- Dress dots remain petite; surface embroidery after assembly prevents distortion.
Troubleshooting
- Visible gaps: drop hook size by 0.25–0.5 mm or switch to a tighter-twist cotton.
- Crooked face: recheck eye spacing (9 sts). Symmetry at this step defines the overall look.
- Floppy hat: add a thin round of pipe-cleaner or thread elastic inside the band seam (optional).
- Rolling skirt hem: steam lightly; the Rnd 8 scflo helps the hem relax flat.
