Meet the Breakfast Waffle Chef Mouse: a soft gray mouse wearing a cream–mint striped tee, sunny yellow gingham shorts, and light-wood clogs. Construction Overview

Work the mouse in separate pieces—head (with muzzle), ears, body, arms, legs with clogs, and tail—then sew together. Dress the mouse in a striped tee (bottom-up, sleeves picked up) and gingham shorts (top-down, split for legs). Add a chef hat and kitchen towel. Build props: waffle iron (opening/closing), waffle with berries, syrup bottle, plate, butter pat, and a counter sign.

Relaxed, bottom-up, with slim stripes (one round per color).

Body

1. With cream, ch 60; join (60).

4. Rnd 3: cream sc around (60).

   Continue alternating one round cream/one round mint through the tee.

• Using surface slip stitch, work vertical lines every ~5 sts around both legs and the body.

Light-Wood Clogs (tan with brown sole edge; made on feet)

Sole Edge: With brown, surface sl st a line around foot rnd 3 on each foot.
Upper (tan)

1. Join at outer side of foot rnd 7; sc 10 across toe (10).

Hinge

• With silver, ch 6; sc back (5). Fo. Sew the strip along the back edges of both lids to create a flexible hinge (or add a tiny snap/magnet at the front so it “clicks” shut). Optionally insert a thin card/plastic disc inside each lid before sewing for stiffness.

Assembly & Dressing

1. Dress the mouse in gingham shorts first; then pull on the striped tee.
2. Put on clogs; tack straps at the sides if needed.
3. Seat the chef hat snugly; you can add one hidden stitch to the head between the ears.
4. Drape the towel over the left arm.
5. Place the waffle iron slightly open on the table; set waffle on the plate with the butter pat.
6. Put the syrup bottle in the right hand or set it beside the plate. Stand the sign behind.

Finishing & Customization

• Tee fit: If your gauge is tight, add +4 ch to the foundation; if loose, subtract –4. Keep the single-round striping to get the crisp look.
• Gingham density: Add more vertical/horizontal white lines for a tighter check, or keep as written for airy picnic vibes.
• Clogs: For a more “wooden” look, use backstitch lines in brown across the sole edge; add a tiny “nail dot” at each side of the strap.
• Waffle options: Make a heart-shaped waffle by shaping the circle into 4 scallops on the last round and adjusting the grid into four wedges.
