Assembly & Finishing
- Attach legs: Pin each leg to the lower body front with slight outward angle; ladder-stitch securely.
- Position shoes: Slide shoes on; tack at the heel if you want them fixed.
- Sew on arms: Place so hands rest near the skirt line.
- Add tail: Center back low to help sitting posture.
- Dress: Tie the skirt’s I-cord at back; put on cardigan; knot headscarf behind ears.
- Pose with props: Slip the straw into the “hand,” or tack milkshake to a palm; place pie on the other hand; set menu and billfold at her feet.
Tips for a Photogenic Finish
- Blocking: Steam-block the skirt hem so the checkerboard squares hang crisp and straight.
- Ear posture: If using wire, insert a light U-shaped piece along each ear edge before sewing; otherwise, stitch ears with a tiny forward tilt and add a few anchoring stitches at the back.
- Face: Take time with embroidery—keeping the eyes level and the mouth a neat inverted “Y” creates that friendly diner smile.
- Texture match: Keep stuffing firm but not hard; the tight gauge preserves those plush, rounded knit stitches seen in the reference.
