Introduction

Make the Farmers-Market Pup—a sunny amigurumi puppy ready to sell fresh berries. He wears gingham overalls, a butter-yellow tee with a sunflower, green sneakers with laces, and a beige newsboy cap. Accessories include a cream tote filled with veggies plus strawberry crates, a price tag, and a tiny receipt for realistic market storytelling. Pattern is written in US terms and pieces are worked in continuous rounds unless noted.

Accessories

Cream Tote with Lettering (C with D)

Base
R1 ch 21; sc in 2nd ch and across (20).
Rows 2–6 ch 1, turn, sc across (20).
Sc around perimeter; at corners make 3 sc to pivot. This is the base rectangle.

Body (worked in rounds around base)
R1 with C, sc around picking up one st per base st/side (approx. 60).
R2–12 sc around, maintaining corners straight (do not increase).
Handles
Make 2: ch 45; sl st back for sturdy straps; sew to inner rim, matching photo length.
Lettering “FRESH & WOOF” (D)
Surface-embroidery: back-stitch block letters on the front panel (two lines), centered vertically.

Fillers

  • Carrots (H stems D) ×3–4:
    • Body: MR 4 sc; work 1 round even; then each round inc 1 st randomly until 8 sts; work even 2 rounds; then dec every round to a tapered point; stuff lightly.
    • Tops: ch 9, sl st back; repeat 3–4 times; sew to carrot top in a cluster.
  • Greens (D): ch 20, sl st back with occasional picots (ch 3, sl st in 1st) for leafy texture.
Secure veggies inside tote; insert a thin plastic rectangle to keep base flat.

Strawberry Crates (I/E/F/D)

Crate (I)
Base: MR 6 sc; R2 inc around (12); R3 [sc, inc]×6 (18).
Walls: R4 sc blo around (18); R5–7 sc around (18). Add 4 vertical front-loop ridges with surface sl sts to mimic slats.
Berries (E with F seeds) make 6–8 per crate:

  • MR 4 sc; R2 [sc, inc]×2 (6); R3 sc around (6); R4 [sc, dec]×2 (4). Stuff lightly before closing. Add French-knot seeds in F.
Leaves/Calix (D) per berry: [ch 3, sl st in 2nd ch and next] ×5 around a ring of 5 sc; sew on top.
Held Basket for left hand: add a tiny paper-style tag—crochet: C ch 6, sc 2 rows; embroider “$3.00” or leave blank; pierce a hole and attach with thread.

Tiny Receipt

Cut a 2×3 cm card; embroider or draw lines. Or crochet: C ch 9, sc 4 rows; surface-stitch lines in D.

Assembly & Exact Placement

  1. Head to Body: Pin head centered; whipstitch, adding extra stuffing at the neck for stability.
  2. Arms: Sew slightly below the tee’s sleeve seam so the left arm angles inward to hold the berry crate; tack palm to crate edge at two points.
  3. Legs/Feet: Attach at body base, feet parallel and ~1 cm apart; check standing balance before tightening.
  4. Dress: Put on tee, then overalls. Center bib under chin; cross straps in back and button to the bib.
  5. Cap: Seat cap with band seam at back; tilt forward slightly; tack bill to head if desired.
  6. Shoes: Tie cream laces in bows; add a tiny stitch to secure bows.
  7. Tote: Hang on right shoulder so bag rests at hip; fill with carrots and greens, stitching a few points inside so items don’t fall out.
  8. Props: Place the second strawberry crate by the pup’s feet; set the receipt on the table near the right shoe.

Face & Finishing Touches

  • Add a tiny white stitch highlight to each eye.
  • Light blush to cheeks with fabric paint or pastel.
  • Steam-block cap bill and overall hems from a distance (avoid melting acrylic).
  • Weave in all ends invisibly.

Safety Notes

  • For children under 3, embroider eyes and secure all small pieces firmly.
  • Avoid wire; if you must use it (for crate tags), bury ends and secure thoroughly.
