Introduction
The Autumn Trail Fox is a cozy outdoor-themed amigurumi dressed in an oatmeal henley top with elbow patches, olive corduroy-look shorts, burgundy lace-up sneakers, an olive baseball cap with a pumpkin-orange maple leaf, and a pumpkin roll-top mini backpack.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Step 1) Visual Analysis (Form, Proportions, Stitch Density, Join Angles)
- Overall silhouette: classic amigurumi; head ≈ body height (1:1). Legs are stout for a stable stand; arms hang to the shorts hem.
- Head: rounded with high cheeks; black oval nose; mouth a small curved line.
- Ears: large triangles with orange outside and cream inner edge showing lightly; they tilt ~10–12° backward.
- Body: gentle trapezoid—wider hips; short neck so cap reads naturally.
- Tail: full fox tail with orange base and cream tip; curves slightly to the right at ~20–25° when sewn.
- Outfit:
- Henley (oatmeal) with 3 small buttons at center chest; brown elbow patches exactly centered on outer sleeves.
- Shorts (olive) imitate corduroy ribs (front-post/back-post); above-knee length.
- Sneakers: burgundy uppers, cream soles/foxing, cream laces.
- Cap: olive, curved brim; orange maple leaf in duplicate stitch centered on front.
- Backpack: pumpkin roll-top cylinder with straps; sits mid-back just above shorts waistband.
- Stitch density: amigurumi tight sc at ~22 sts × 24 rnds per 10 cm; clothing slightly looser (~20 × 22).
- Placement & angles: eyes between Head Rnds 12–13, 8 sts apart; nose centered at Rnd 15–16; arms join at Body Rnd 22; tail attach across Body Rnds 7–10 slightly to the right. Cap brim aligns just above eye line.
- Finished height: 25–26 cm standing (cap not counted), sitting ~18 cm.

- Attach tail across Body Rnds 7–10 curving to the right.
- Dress fox with shorts → henley → sneakers → cap.
- Fit backpack; tack straps at shoulders to stop slipping.
Stuffing & Shaping Tips
- Head: concentrate stuffing at the lower cheeks to maintain the cute cheek line; avoid over-stuffing crown so the cap fits.
- Muzzle: light stuffing; flatten slightly as you sew for the oval profile.
- Ears: steam very lightly after attaching to help the backward tilt hold.
- Sneakers: shape toe rounding after Round 6; add thin insoles for crisp soles.
- Backpack roll-top: steam-press the rolled edge so it naturally curls forward once closed.
