Introduction

Meet the Bunny “Market Florist”—a charming knit rabbit in a blue-grey pinafore over a cream blouse with garter yoke, classic T-bar shoes, a tiny head scarf, and a wicker-style flower basket. Follow the placement map and counts below to reproduce the look 1:1.

Materials Needed

  • Yarn (DK / Light #3)
    1. Bunny: almond/natural 100 g
    2. Embroidery: light brown (nose/mouth)
    3. Eyes: safety eyes 8 mm (or embroider)
    4. Blouse & socks: cream 35–40 g
    5. Pinafore: blue-grey 45–55 g
    6. Shoes: brown 30 g
    7. Head scarf: floral pink 5–8 g
    8. Basket & flowers: wicker tan 20 g + leaf green, white, yellow, pink scraps
  • Needles
    1. US 2 (2.75 mm) DPNs/circular for toy
    2. US 3 (3.25 mm) for garments & accessories
  • Notions: Fiberfill, tapestry needle, stitch markers, 2–3 tiny buttons (strap tops), optional plastic canvas for basket bottom, elastic thread for skirt waistband (optional), sewing thread/needle.

  • pm / sm – place marker / slip marker
  • p2tog – purl 2 together
  • inc / dec – increase / decrease
  • I-cord – knit cord worked on few stitches, sliding work each row

Gauge & Finished Size

  • Toy (US 2): ~28–30 sts × 40–42 rows = 4 in / 10 cm stockinette in the round, firm.
  • Garments (US 3): ~24–26 sts × 36–38 rows = 4 in / 10 cm stockinette.
  • Finished height: ~30–31 cm without ears.

Pattern Notes

  • All toy sections are worked in the round unless stated.
  • Stuff gradually and firmly, especially head and feet.
  • Use mattress stitch for invisible seams.
  • Safety: embroider eyes for under-3s.
  • Keep long tails to anchor parts internally.

The Bunny

Head (start at crown; US 2; almond)

  1. CO 8 sts, join, pm.
  2. kfb around (16).
  3. (k1, kfb) ×8 (24).
  4. (k2, kfb) ×8 (32).
  5. (k3, kfb) ×8 (40).
  6. (k4, kfb) ×8 (48).
    7–16) k around (48).
  7. (k7, kfb) ×6 (54).
    18–19) k around (54).
  8. Eye round: k to where you want the left eye, pm; k 14, pm for right eye; k to end.
  9. k around. Insert 8 mm eyes between Rnds 20–21 at markers.
  10. (k7, k2tog) ×6 (48).
  11. k around; begin stuffing firmly.
  12. (k6, k2tog) ×6 (42).
  13. k around.
  14. (k5, k2tog) ×6 (36).
  15. (k4, k2tog) ×6 (30).
  16. (k3, k2tog) ×6 (24).
  17. (k2, k2tog) ×6 (18).
  18. (k1, k2tog) ×6 (12).
  19. k2tog ×6 (6). Cut long tail, draw through, close.
    Face embroidery: With brown, work a small triangle nose centered across Rnds 22–23 (≈3 sts wide) and a short vertical mouth line 1–2 rnds.

  1. CO 12, join.

  3. (k2, kfb) ×6 (24).
  4. (k3, kfb) ×6 (30).
  5. (k4, kfb) ×6 (36).
    6–10) k around (36).
  6. (k5, kfb) ×6 (42).
    12–18) k around (42).
  7. (k5, k2tog) ×6 (36).
    20–22) k around (36).
  8. (k4, k2tog) ×6 (30).
    24–25) k around (30).

    12–18) k around (12). Lightly stuff palms only.
  5. (k1, k2tog) ×4 (8).
  6. k around; cut tail; draw through.
    Sew to body at Body Rnd 26, 19–20 sts apart.

Legs & Feet (make 2; US 2; almond to ankle; shoes later)

  1. CO 10, join.
  2. (k1, kfb) ×5 (15).
  3. (k2, kfb) ×5 (20).
    4–10) k around (20).
  4. (k3, k2tog) ×4 (16).
    12–14) k around (16).
  5. k2tog ×8 (8). Draw through. Stuff firmly. Sew parallel beneath body; toes forward.

Clothing & Accessories

Cream Sock Cuffs (US 3; cream)

Pick up 20 sts around each ankle; k1, p1 rib for 4 rnds; BO loosely.

T-Bar Shoes (US 3; brown)

Soles (flat garter, make 2 per shoe)

  1. CO 6.
  2. Row 1: kfb, k4, kfb (8).
  3. Row 2: k.
  4. Row 3: kfb, k6, kfb (10).
  5. Row 4: k.
  6. Row 5: kfb, k8, kfb (12).
    BO. Whipstitch two soles WS together for firmness.
    Upper (in the round)
  7. Pick up 36 sts around sole; join.
    8–9) k around.
  8. Toe shape: k7, ssk, k14, k2tog, k7 (34).
  9. k around.
  10. k6, ssk, k14, k2tog, k6 (32).
  11. k around.
  12. Instep panel (flat over front 16 sts): work 6 rows stockinette, ending RS; leave side sts on hold.
  13. Pick up 6 down right edge, k across 16, pick up 6 up left edge, k rem on hold (≈44).
  14. k 1 rnd.
  15. Openings: BO 16 for vamp opening, k12 (heel), BO 16 for opposite side.
  16. Strap: Over heel 12 live sts, work 4 rows stockinette; dec each edge every RS to 6 sts; BO. Cross over vamp; sew to opposite side. Embroider a tiny dot as faux buckle.

Blouse with Garter Yoke (US 3; cream)

Worked flat to arm splits, then in the round for body; sleeves picked up.
Yoke (flat)

  1. CO 64; Row 1 (RS): k across.
    2–8) Work garter (k every row) while inc 8 sts evenly over Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 → 72.
  2. Divide for sleeves: k 16 (left front), pm, CO 6 (underarm), skip 20 (left sleeve onto holder), k 20 (back), pm, CO 6 (underarm), skip 20 (right sleeve onto holder), k 16 (right front). Total body = 58 sts.
    Body (in the round)
  3. Join to work in round; k 6 rnds.
  4. Hem: k1, p1 rib 4 rnds; BO stretchy.
    Neckband
    Pick up around neckline ≈ 64–68 sts; work k1, p1 rib 4 rows; BO.
    Sleeves (each)
    Return 20 held sleeve sts; pick up 6 underarm sts to close (26).
  • Rnd 1–6: k around.
  • Rnd 7: (k4, k2tog) ×4 + adjust to 22.
  • Rnd 8–10: k around.
  • Rnd 11: k1, p1 rib 3 rnds for cuff. BO.
    Add a tiny back neck snap if you prefer an opening (optional).

Pinafore Dress (US 3; blue-grey)

Skirt (in the round, top-down)

  1. CO 120 sts; join, pm.
  2. Waist rib: k1, p1 for 4 rnds.
  3. Gather set: k2, m1 around → 180 sts.
    4–14) k around (flowy skirt).
  4. Hem: p 1 rnd, k 1 rnd, BO loosely for a clean fold.
    Bib & Straps (flat)
  5. From the inside of waistband, count center 32 sts at front; with RS facing, pick up and knit these 32.
    17–30) Work in stockinette (k RS, p WS) for 14 rows; keep edges neat.
  6. Side shaping: Row 15 (RS) and Row 17 (RS) dec 1 each side (ssk / k2tog) → 28 sts.
  7. Rows 18–20: k in pattern.
  8. Top edge: work 3 rows k1, p1 rib; BO.
    Straps (make 2)
  • Pick up 6 sts from each top corner; work I-cord or 6-st garter straps to desired length (~13–14 cm).
  • Sew straight to back waistband (no cross) or cross if you like.
  • Sew two tiny buttons at strap tops or add button loops.

Head Scarf / Ribbon (US 3; floral pink)

  1. CO 5; work garter 16–18 rows.
  2. BO; knot around one ear base with a tiny bow; tack in place.

Market Basket with Flowers (US 3; wicker tan + scraps)

Basket body (oval, in the round)

  1. CO 8; k flat 2 rows. Pick up around rectangle to form an oval of ≈24 sts; join.
  2. Work seed stitch (k1, p1 across, shift by 1 on next rnd) for 6–7 rnds to mimic wicker.
  3. Rim: one rnd k tbl; then one rnd I-cord bind-off (CO 3 on right needle and work I-cord BO) for a rolled rim.
    Handles (make 2)
  • I-cord CO 3; knit 8–10 rows; attach opposite sides.
    Flowers
  • Daisy: With yellow, CO 6, join; k 2 rnds; BO for a mini disc. With white, CO 6, BO to make simple petals; sew around disc.
  • Tulip: With pink, CO 5; stockinette 6 rows; gather top to cup; add leaf green I-cord stem (CO 2; knit 6 rows).

  • Shoes: strap centered over instep; sock cuff peeks 1–2 rnds.

Assembly & Finishing

  1. Head ↔ body: Ladder stitch; keep seam invisible.
  2. Ears: Sew at mapped points; gentle outward splay.
  3. Arms: Attach on Body Rnd 26; lightly stuff palms only.
  4. Dress order: Socks → shoes → blouse → pinafore (button straps).
  5. Head scarf: Tie and tack by one ear.
  6. Basket: Place in one hand; secure with a small hidden stitch if the doll will be displayed upright.

Blocking & Styling

  • Steam (no iron contact) to set pinafore hem and blouse yoke.
  • Shape ear curves and skirt gather with light steam.
  • If the pinafore waistband feels loose, run a thin elastic thread inside the rib.

  • Eyes low and evenly spaced; nose tiny triangle; mouth short.
  • Ears ~11–12 cm, bases ~9 sts apart, outward angle visible.
