Introduction

Knit the Seaside Scooter Pup—a cheerful puppy ready for the pier in a seafoam bucket hat (with a tiny seagull), sunny anchor sweater, striped deck shorts, crisp white trainers, and a bright red backpack. The instructions below are drafted to match the photo exactly so your finished doll photographs the same from every angle.

Assembly

Join Head to Body

Return the body’s 12 live sts to needles. Pick up 12 sts around the head base; graft with Kitchener stitch or mattress seam for a neat neck. Add extra stuffing before fully closing.

Attach Limbs & Tail

  • Arms: sew on 8–9 rnds below neckline, slightly forward.
  • Legs: center beneath body; ensure equal length so the pup stands.
  • Tail: stitch low back, curving gently downward.

Dress the Pup

  1. Pull on shorts first; let hems roll evenly.
  2. Dress in sweater; ensure the navy chest stripe runs straight and anchor is centered.
  3. Fit shoes; tie laces.
  4. Place bucket hat low on forehead; ears peek under brim.
  5. Put on backpack; align both straps symmetrically from back to shoulders. Tack at two small points to keep them in place during handling.

Finishing Touches / QC

  • Face: eyes level and 10–11 sts apart; nose and mouth centered; ear placement even and drooping.
  • Sweater: rib collar snug; one thin navy stripe; anchor motif crisp and centered.
  • Shorts: begin and end in blue; stripe intervals 4 rnds each; both cuffs roll equally.
  • Shoes: toe shaping symmetrical; laces tied into neat bows; a subtle light-grey sole edge visible.
  • Backpack: flap sits mid-back; tiny gold latch mark; two straps clearly visible from the front.
  • Proportions: head ≈ 1.05× torso height; legs short; overall height within 25–26 cm.

Pattern Notes

  • Keep toy pieces on US 2 for tight fabric; clothing/hat/backpack on US 3 for softness and fit.
  • Stuff head and feet firmly; arms only at hands to keep a relaxed drape.
  • For child safety, embroider eyes instead of safety eyes and sew backpack flap shut.
  • If your gauge runs looser and doll finishes taller, remove one or two plain rounds in the head or body to retain the photographed proportions.
  • Light blocking on the hat brim and sweater hem sharpens edges; let the shorts cuffs roll naturally.
