Welcome to the sweetest spot in the miniature world! The “Strawberry Patch” Garden is a vibrant, mouth-watering creation that moves away from the domestic kitchen theme and dives straight into the soil of realistic farming. This caravan is a celebration of the harvest, designed to look like a giant, ripe strawberry nestled in the garden. The exterior is a bold Strawberry Red, speckled with sunny Yellow seeds, while the roof is overgrown with a tangle of lush green vines and leaves, creating a living canopy.
Peer inside the open wall to discover a bustling greenhouse environment. The interior is maximized with vertical gardening: hanging pots and long soil troughs are overflowing with botanical accurate strawberry plants. You will crochet serrated green leaves, delicate five-petaled white flowers, runners trailing down the walls, and berries in various stages of ripeness—from tart green to juicy red. The scene is stocked with farming essentials: a harvest basket brimming with fruit, a jar of organic fertilizer, pruning shears, and a gardener’s straw hat resting on a bench. Outside, a cheeky, chubby-cheeked Chipmunk has stolen a prize berry, standing on a patch of soil planted with even more crops. This project is a delicious challenge in texture and detail.
To support the weight of the hanging pots and the dense “vine” roof, we will strictly use the “3-Layer Sandwich Method” (Yarn – Plastic Canvas – Yarn). This technique creates the rigid, box-like walls necessary for a high-quality display piece that won’t sag under the weight of its own lush vegetation. We will alternate between a standard hook for the caravan shell and a precision micro-hook for the tiny seeds, berries, and the chipmunk.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

- Ch: Chain
- Sc: Single Crochet
- Hdc: Half Double Crochet
- Dc: Double Crochet
- Inc: Increase (2 sc in one st)
- Dec: Decrease (invisible decrease)
- BLO: Back Loop Only

Part 1: The Strawberry Structure (Sandwich Method)
Use Hook Size: 2.5mm
1. The Garden Soil Floor
Make 2 identical panels using Soil Brown.
- Row 1: Ch 26. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (25)
- Row 2-40: Sc across. (Rectangle approx 4″ x 6.5″).
- Fasten off Panel 1. Keep yarn attached to Panel 2.
Assembly: Cut plastic canvas to the exact size. Sandwich it between the two brown panels. Sc around the perimeter through both layers to seal.
2. The Red “Seeded” Shell (U-Shaped)
This forms the Left Wall, Roof Base, and Right Wall. The texture is key.
Panel A: Exterior (Strawberry Red)
- Row 1: Ch 91 (Length to cover Left Side + Roof + Right Side). Sc across. (90)
- Row 2-35: Sc across.
- Window Cutouts: On the side wall sections, create rectangular window openings to let light onto the plants (Ch 10, Sk 10).
- The “Seeds” (Embroidery): Before assembly, thread a needle with Bright Yellow yarn. Embroider small vertical stitches (“V” shapes or French Knots) evenly spaced across the Red sections of the panel. This mimics the achenes (seeds) of a strawberry.
- Fasten off.
Panel B: Interior (Light Green or White)
- Use a pale color to reflect light inside the “greenhouse.” Match dimensions and window gaps of Panel A.
Assembly:
- Cut plastic canvas strip (with window holes).
- Sandwich canvas between Panel A and Panel B.
- Join: Sc around the perimeter through both layers using Red yarn.
- Shape: Bend into a U-shape arch. Sew the bottom edges to the Floor Base.
- Back Wall: Make a solid sandwich panel (Red exterior with seeds, Light interior) to close the back.

3. The Vine-Covered Roof Overlay
Use Vine Green Yarn.
- Base Layer: Crochet a mesh or loose rectangle of green chains to fit over the roof section.
- Vines: Crochet long chains (Ch 50+) and surface slip stitch them in swirling patterns over the roof.
- Roof Leaves (Large): Ch 10. Sc, Hdc, Dc, Tr, Dc, Hdc, Sc. Make 20+ large leaves. Sew them densely onto the roof, overlapping them to create a “cap” effect like the top of a strawberry. Let some hang over the eaves.
Part 2: The Strawberry Plants (Botanical Detail)
IMPORTANT: Switch to 1.0mm – 1.25mm Hook.
1. The Berries (Make 20+)
- Ripe Berry: Red. MR 4 sc. Inc to 8. Sc 2 rounds. Dec to 4. Fasten off. (Tiny cone). Embroider tiny yellow dots.
- Unripe Berry: Green. Same pattern, but slightly smaller (skip the Inc to 8 if you want very small ones).
- Calyx (Green Cap): Green thread. MR 5 sc. Ch 2, sl st in same st (tiny loops). Sew to top of berry.
2. The Flowers
- Pattern: White. MR. *Ch 3, Dc, Ch 3, Sl st* into ring. Repeat 5 times for 5 petals.
- Center: Yellow French Knot.
3. The Trifoliate Leaves
- Leaflet: Green. Ch 5. Sc, Hdc, (Dc, Ch 2, Dc), Hdc, Sc. Make serrated edges by doing (Sc, Ch 1, Sc) in the side stitches.
- Assembly: Sew 3 leaflets together at the base to form one Strawberry Leaf. Attach to a green wire stem.
4. Troughs & Hanging Pots
- Trough (Soil Box): Brown (2.5mm hook). Ch 12. Sc 4 rows. Sandwich walls. Glue to the floor along the sides.
- Hanging Pot: Terracotta/Beige. MR 6 sc, Inc to 18. BLO Sc 4 rounds.
