Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the sheep body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished sheep stands approximately 26–28 cm (10–11 inches) tall. The clothing is designed to be removable.

Construction Overview

The sheep is constructed in pieces: head, body, legs, arms, and ears. The head uses a combination of smooth stitches for the face and Bobble stitches for the “woolly” scalp. The body is also textured. The outfit is removable: the cardigan is worked flat in rows with sleeves added; the skirt is worked in rounds with a decorative shell stitch. The hairnet is a simple mesh. The accessories are miniature replicas of knitting tools.
