The Teddy Bear Doctor – Free Crochet Pattern

This gentle Golden Brown Bear stands tall with a reassuring smile. She is dressed for her rounds in a soothing Mint Green shirt dress that peeks out from beneath her pristine White Doctor’s Coat. The coat features all the essential details of a medical professional, including a smart collar and a pocket embroidered with a red heart, symbolizing her compassionate nature. On her head, she wears a traditional nurse’s headband adorned with a small red cross.

She is prepared for any emergency with her rectangular First Aid Kit and a handmade stethoscope crafted from wire and yarn to hold its shape. But her most important task of the day is tending to her first patient: a tiny, miniature teddy bear who needs a little extra love and a bandage on his arm. This pattern is perfect for intermediate crocheters who want to create a meaningful gift for a medical worker, a get-well-soon present, or simply a charming addition to their collection.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the bear body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished Doctor Bear stands approximately 28 cm (11 inches) tall. The clothing is designed to be removable, adding to the playability of the doll.

Construction Overview

The bear is constructed in pieces. The legs are made first, starting with the white shoes, and are joined to form the body. The head is round with a distinct muzzle to give it that classic “Teddy” look. The dress is a separate garment worn underneath the white lab coat. The lab coat is worked in rows to create an open front. The accessories—stethoscope, medical bag, and mini patient—are detailed miniatures requiring patience and fine motor skills.
