The Soap Maker Cow – Free Crochet Pattern

This adorable bovine features a classic dairy cow coat with patches of soft brown and creamy white. She is dressed for a productive day in her workshop wearing a charming Light Blue dress featuring a beautiful scalloped hemline that adds a touch of elegance to her workwear. To protect her dress during the soap-making process, she wears a practical yet lovely Lavender Purple apron with a large front pocket for holding her tools.

Her look is completed with a vintage-style headscarf tied in a bow to keep her ears tidy, and comfortable cream-colored crochet shoes. In her hand, she holds a fresh bar of handmade lavender soap, ready for market, and she is accompanied by a cheerful yellow Rubber Duck, the perfect companion for a bubble bath. This pattern is designed for intermediate crocheters who enjoy detailed clothing and storytelling accessories.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the cow body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished cow stands approximately 28 cm (11 inches) tall. The clothing is designed to be removable.

Construction Overview

The cow is constructed in pieces. The head is a sphere with a sewn-on muzzle. The specific “spotted” look is achieved by changing colors between White and Brown on the head, arms, and legs. The body is pear-shaped and sturdy. The dress is worked from the neck down, featuring a detailed scalloped skirt. The apron is a separate piece with a functional pocket. The accessories—soap, mold, and duck—are miniatures.
