Spring has officially sprung with this vibrant, sunshine-filled project! “The Forsythia” Golden Branch caravan is a celebration of the very first signs of the season, capturing that magical moment when bright yellow blooms erupt on bare branches before the green leaves even appear. The exterior of this vehicle is a striking, cheerful Lemon Yellow, acting as a beacon of happiness. It is designed to look like a mobile florist’s studio or a high tea garden pod, radiating warmth and light.
The interior is a study in elegant contrast and maximalist detail. To make the yellow pop, the main decor features sleek, matte black ceramic vases filled to the brim with architectural Forsythia branches. These branches are thin, brown, and densely covered in tiny, four-petaled yellow flowers. The scene is set for a relaxing afternoon: a yellow flower-shaped teapot steams gently beside a plate of delicate lemon macarons. For the gardener, there are miniature pruners and a coil of wire for shaping the branches. Outside, a stunning Goldfinch—yellow with black wings—perches on a branch, joining you for tea at the small outdoor table. This project is bright, cheerful, and intricate.
To ensure the vibrant yellow walls remain perfectly flat and the structure supports the display without bowing, we will strictly use the “3-Layer Sandwich Method” (Yarn – Plastic Canvas – Yarn). This technique is non-negotiable for this design. It provides the rigid, box-like integrity of a real vehicle, ensuring the walls don’t look like a soft plush toy. We will alternate between a standard hook for the main shell and a precision micro-hook for the hundreds of tiny flowers and the Goldfinch.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Materials & Tools

– Bark Brown: Branches, floor.
– Light Wood/Beige: Outdoor table.
– Silver/Grey: Pruner blades, wire coil.

Part 1: The Sunshine Structure (Sandwich Method)
Use Hook Size: 2.5mm.
1. The Earthy Floor Base
Make 2 identical panels using Bark Brown.
- Row 1: Ch 30. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (29)
- Row 2-45: Sc across. (Rectangle approx 4.5″ x 7″).
- Fasten off Panel 1. Keep yarn attached to Panel 2.
Assembly: Cut plastic canvas to the exact size. Sandwich it between the two panels. Sc around the perimeter through both layers to seal.
2. The Lemon Yellow Shell (U-Shaped)
This forms the Left Wall, Roof, and Right Wall. It must be bright and smooth.
Panel A: Exterior (Lemon Yellow)
- Row 1: Ch 95 (Length to cover Left + Roof + Right). Sc across.
- Rows 2-35: Sc across. Maintain even tension for a smooth finish.
- Window Cutouts: On the side wall (Left), cut a square window. The Right side is the open viewing stage.
- Door Cutout: On the Left wall, leave a rectangular opening if desired, or simply shape the open side to include a small “half-wall” at the bottom.
Panel B: Interior (Lemon Yellow or White)
- Use Yellow to keep the interior sunny. Match dimensions and window gaps of Panel A.
Assembly:
- Cut plastic canvas strip (with window holes).
- Sandwich canvas between Panel A and Panel B.
- Join: Sc around the perimeter using Lemon Yellow.
- Shape: Bend into a U-shape arch. Sew the bottom edges to the Floor Base.
- Back Wall: Make a solid sandwich panel (Yellow) to close the back.

Part 2: The Forsythia Arrangements (Micro-Crochet)
IMPORTANT: Switch to 1.0mm Hook. Forsythia flowers are tiny and numerous.
1. The Branches
- Structure: Cut thin brown floral wire into varying lengths (2 inches to 4 inches).
Texture: Wrap the wire tightly with Brown yarn or floral tape. Leave the ends bare to stick into the vase.
Shape: Bend the branches slightly to look angular and natural.
2. The Golden Flowers (Make 100+)
Forsythia has 4 petals. Use Lemon Yellow thread.
- Pattern: Ch 4. Sl st in 1st ch to form a ring.
Petal 1: Ch 3, Sl st in ring.
Petal 2: Ch 3, Sl st in ring.
Petal 3: Ch 3, Sl st in ring.
Petal 4: Ch 3, Sl st in ring.
Fasten off. This creates a tiny 4-loop flower.
- Assembly: This is the time-consuming part. Glue these tiny yellow flowers densely along the brown wire branches. Do not add leaves (Forsythia blooms before leafing). Cover the branches almost entirely.
3. Black Ceramic Vases
Use 2.5mm Hook and Black yarn.
- Vase Body: MR 6 sc, Inc to 18. BLO Sc 2 rounds. *Sc, Inc* to 24 (bulbous shape). Sc 4 rounds. Dec to 12 (neck). Sc 2 rounds.
Rim: (Sc, Ch 1) around.
- Assembly: Fill with fiberfill. Insert 5-6 flowering branches into the vase. Make 2-3 vases of different heights.
Part 3: Interior Details & Tea Time
Use Hook Size: 1.0mm – 1.25mm.
1. Yellow Flower Teapot
- Body: Lemon Yellow. MR 6 sc, Inc to 18. Sc 5 rounds. Dec to 12. Stuff.
- Lid: Yellow. Flat circle. Add a tiny brown knot on top.
- Spout: Ch 5 tube. Sew to front.
- Handle: Ch 8 loop. Sew to back. Place on the table.

- Group the Black Vases in the back corners. The yellow flowers should explode against the black background.
- Place the Wire Coil and Pruners on the floor or a small ledge.
- Set the Macarons on a small plate inside.
- Exterior Scene:
- Place the Outdoor Tea Table near the entrance.
- Set the Yellow Teapot on the table.
- Position the Goldfinch perching on the table or a nearby branch, looking at the tea.
Congratulations! You have grown “The Forsythia” Golden Branch caravan. This project is a ray of sunshine, bringing the hope and brightness of spring into your home.
