The “Blueberry Picker” Bunny is a charming character, celebrating the beloved summer tradition of harvesting fresh berries. This adorable white rabbit features unique gray spots on her fur, giving her a realistic and distinct personality. She is dressed to impress in a country-chic outfit perfect for the season.

Her ensemble features a classic navy blue pinafore dress, adorned with tiny blue beads that look just like the blueberries she is collecting. Underneath, she wears a pristine off-white top with elegant puff sleeves and a square neckline. On her feet are sweet light blue ballet flats, and her head is protected from the sun by a rustic blue gingham kerchief. To complete the scene, she carries a small galvanized-style bucket and a jar of homemade blueberry jam. This pattern is detailed and designed to create a high-quality, heirloom doll.

Materials Needed

Gauge & Size

Outfit Instructions

Puff-Sleeved Blouse

Use Off-White/Cream yarn. Worked in rounds.

• Rnd 1: Ch 26, join to form a circle. sc in each ch around [26]
• Rnd 2: (sc 2, inc) around [34]
• Rnd 3: sc 5, ch 6 (skip 6 sts for arm), sc 12, ch 6 (skip 6 sts for arm), sc 5 [22 sts + 12 ch]
• Rnd 4: sc in each st and ch around [34]
• Rnds 5–8: sc in each st around [34]. Fasten off.
• Sleeves: Join yarn to the armhole.
  • Rnd 1: (inc) in each st around [12 sts becomes 24] to create the puff.
  • Rnds 2–4: sc around [24]
  • Rnd 5: (dec) in each st around [12]
  • Rnd 6: sc around. Fasten off. Repeat for other sleeve.

Navy Pinafore Dress

Use Navy Blue yarn.

• Waistband: Ch 35 (check fit around bunny’s waist over the blouse). Join. sc around.
• Skirt:
  • Rnd 1: Ch 2 (counts as dc), dc in same st. (dc 1, inc) around [Approx 52]
  • Rnd 2: (dc 2, inc) around.
  • Rnds 3–8: dc in each st around until desired length.
  • Rnd 9: (sc, ch 2, sc) in each st for a textured hem. Fasten off.
• Bib: Join yarn to front center of waistband. Work 10 sc across. Turn.
  • Rows 2–6: Ch 1, sc 10 across. Turn.
• Straps: Ch 20 (measure over shoulder to back waist), sew from top corners of bib to back of waistband. Cross them at the back if desired.
• Finishing: Sew small blue beads scattered on the skirt to represent blueberries.

Gingham Kerchief

Use Cornflower Blue and White. To simulate gingham, you can simply change colors every 2 stitches, or crochet a solid blue triangle and embroider white grid lines later. Here is a simple triangle pattern:

• Row 1: Ch 40. sc in 2nd ch and across [39]. Turn.
• Row 2: dec, sc across to last 2, dec [37]. Turn.
• Repeat Row 2 until 1 stitch remains. Fasten off.
• Tie around the bunny’s head, under the ears.

Accessories

Galvanized Bucket

Use Silver/Grey yarn.

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR [6]
• Rnd 2: inc in each st around [12]
• Rnd 3: (sc 1, inc) x 6 [18]
• Rnd 4: (sc 2, inc) x 6 [24]
• Rnd 5: BLO sc in each st around [24] (Creates the base edge)
• Rnds 6–10: sc in each st around [24]
• Rnd 11: (sc 3, inc) x 6 [30] (Slight flare at top)
• Rnd 12: sl st around. Fasten off.
• Handle: Use a piece of craft wire, bend into a semi-circle, and attach to the sides.

Blueberry Jam Jar

Use Dark Purple/Deep Blue yarn.

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR [6]
• Rnd 2: inc in each st around [12]
• Rnd 3: BLO sc in each st around [12]
• Rnds 4–7: sc in each st around [12]
• Rnd 8: dec around [6]. Stuff firmly. Close.
• Lid Cover: With Light Purple/Gingham color. 6 sc in MR, inc around to 12, (sc 1, inc) to 18. Fasten off. Place over the top of the jar and tie with a piece of twine or yarn.

Assembly

1. Dress the bunny in the off-white blouse first.
2. Put the navy pinafore over the blouse.
3. Tie the kerchief onto the head.
4. Place the bucket on one arm. You can fill it with blue beads or small blue yarn bobbles (ch 2, 3 dc bobble, sl st) to represent berries.
5. Stitch the jam jar to the other hand or place it at her feet.
6. Tuck the sprig of blueberry leaves (faux greenery) into her hand or the bucket.
