Welcome to the royal gardens! Today we are entering the refined and manicured world of “The Topiary Sculptor.” This caravan is a mobile studio dedicated to the art of shaping living trees into geometric and whimsical forms. The exterior is a deep, majestic Forest Green, reminiscent of old English hedges, topped with a charming roof railing that mimics a garden fence. It exudes an air of elegance and precision.
Inside, the workshop is filled with the sculptor’s masterpieces: miniature bushes trimmed into perfect cones, spheres, hearts, and even a delightful duck. The tools of the trade—oversized hedge shears, a measuring tape for precision, and wire frames—are scattered around the work floor. Outside, a magnificent Peacock struts proudly, perhaps serving as the live model for the sculptor’s next creation. This project is perfect for those who love greenery, structure, and a touch of aristocratic charm.
To capture the sharp, boxy look of the caravan and ensure the roof railing stands upright, we will strictly use the “3-Layer Sandwich Method” (Yarn – Plastic Canvas – Yarn). This technique creates rigid walls that mimic the solid structure of a garden shed. We will use a standard hook for the main shell and a precision micro-hook for the delicate tools and the peacock’s feathers.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Part 1: The Garden Shed Structure (Sandwich Method)
Use Hook Size: 2.5mm
1. The Floor Base
Make 2 identical panels using Beige (Light Wood).
- Row 1: Ch 26. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (25)
- Row 2-40: Sc across. (Aim for a rectangle approx 4″ x 6.5″).
- Fasten off Panel 1. Keep yarn attached to Panel 2.
Assembly: Cut plastic canvas to size. Sandwich between the two panels. Sc around the perimeter through both layers to seal.
2. The Forest Green Shell (U-Shaped)
This forms the Left Wall, Roof, and Right Wall. It acts as the backdrop for the greenery.
Panel A: Exterior (Forest Green)
- Row 1: Ch 91 (Length to cover Left Side + Roof + Right Side). Sc across. (90)
- Row 2-35: Sc across.
- Window Cutouts: On the side wall sections, create window openings (Ch 10, Sk 10).
- Fasten off.
Panel B: Interior (Beige)
- Use Beige yarn to keep the interior light, helping the green plants pop visually. Match dimensions and window gaps of Panel A.
Assembly:
- Cut plastic canvas strip (with window holes).
- Sandwich canvas between Panel A and Panel B.
- Join: Sc around the perimeter through both layers using Forest Green yarn. Sc inside the window frames.
- Shape: Bend into a U-shape arch. Sew the bottom edges to the Floor Base.
3. The Roof Railing (Fence)
Use Forest Green or a lighter Sage Green for contrast.
- Posts: Join yarn to the front corner of the roof. *Ch 4, sc in same st (corner post), sc 4 along edge, Ch 3, sc in same st (post)* repeat around the roof perimeter.
- Top Rail: Work a second round, Sc in top of each chain-post, Ch 4 to bridge the gap between posts. This creates a cute little fence on top of the caravan.

3. Exterior Details
- Wheels: Black tires (20 sc round), Grey hubcaps. Sew to sides.
- Hitch: Grey tube on front.
Final Assembly
- Structural Check: Ensure the Forest Green shell is sturdy. The roof railing adds a lot of character, so ensure the posts are standing straight (use a dab of glue if needed).
- Interior Landscaping:
- Group the Topiary Pots in the back corners. Vary the heights (put the cone behind the sphere).
- Place the Duck Topiary prominently in the center or near the window.
- Lean the Broom against the wall.
- Scatter the Shears and Measuring Tape on the floor as if the sculptor just stepped out.
- Exterior Grandeur:
- Place the Peacock standing proudly next to the caravan door.
- If you made an extra “Peacock-shaped bush,” place it next to the real peacock for a fun comparison.
