Seaside Walker Baby Puppy – Free Crochet Pattern

Say hello to the “Seaside Walker” Baby Puppy, a charming apricot Poodle who embodies the timeless elegance of nautical fashion. This fluffy little friend is ready for a stroll along the promenade, dressed in a crisp white sailor dress featuring classic navy blue trims and a statement red bow. To protect her from the sun, she wears a traditional white doughboy sailor hat. Her beach day ensemble is completed with white strappy sandals, a pastel pink seashell handbag, and a pair of chic sunglasses for those bright summer afternoons. A tiny starfish pinned to her dress adds the final oceanic touch.

Materials

  • DK or Sport weight yarn in: Apricot/Light Brown (Poodle fur), White (Dress, Hat, Shoes), Navy Blue (Dress trim), Red (Bow), Pastel Pink (Handbag), Beige (Starfish), Black (Sunglasses).
  • Textured or “Bouclé” yarn is recommended for the Poodle’s head and ears to get the fluffy look. If not available, use standard yarn and the Loop Stitch.
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook (for amigurumi parts)
  • 3.0 mm crochet hook (for clothing and accessories)
  • 10mm or 12mm black safety eyes
  • Black embroidery thread (nose/mouth)
  • Craft wire or pipe cleaner (for sunglasses frame)
  • Polyester fiberfill stuffing
  • Yarn needle, stitch markers, scissors, pins
  • Small snap fastener or button for the dress back

Gauge & Finished Size

The finished Poodle stands approximately 28 cm (11 inches) tall. The gauge for the body should be tight to prevent stuffing from showing (approx. 24 sc x 26 rows = 10 cm). The clothing is designed to fit this specific doll size; if you use a different yarn weight, adjust your hook size accordingly.

Head

Use Apricot yarn. We start with the muzzle and move to the head. If using standard yarn, you can switch to Loop Stitch for the “hair” section (Rnds 15+) or use a textured yarn.

  • Muzzle:
  • Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
  • Rnd 2: inc around (12)
  • Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat around (18)
  • Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat around (24)
  • Rnd 5–7: sc around (24)
  • FO Muzzle, leave yarn for sewing later. Alternatively, you can continue expanding from here if you prefer a one-piece head, but a sewn muzzle gives a better poodle shape.

Main Head:

  • Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
  • Rnd 2: inc around (12)
  • Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat around (18)
