The Terrarium Artist Mouse – Free Crochet Pattern

This pristine white mouse features a sweet face with large, attentive ears, ready to listen to the whisper of growing things. She is dressed in a practical yet stylish outfit perfect for a day of potting and pruning. Her ensemble includes a “Terracotta” colored pinafore dress, textured to resemble soft corduroy, layered over a romantic Sage Green blouse with puffy sleeves. To keep her fur tidy while she works, she wears a chic, floral-style turban headband. Her feet are comfortable in sturdy beige clog-style shoes.

She is never without her tools: a miniature crochet shovel for moving soil and her masterpiece—a “glass” terrarium jar crocheted with fine yarn to reveal a tiny cactus inside. Slowly making his way across her workbench is her faithful companion, a tiny Garden Turtle. This pattern is designed for intermediate crocheters who enjoy creating detailed miniature wardrobes and storytelling accessories.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the mouse body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished mouse stands approximately 26–28 cm (10–11 inches) tall. The clothing is designed to be removable.

Construction Overview

The mouse is constructed in pieces. The legs are made first and joined to form the body. The head is crocheted separately and sewn on. The dress is worked from the waist down to create the skirt, with a bib added later. The blouse is a separate garment. The accessories—shovel, terrarium, and turtle—are detailed miniatures.
