The Lemon Grove Bear – Free Crochet Pattern

This sweet Cream Bear features soft, huggable fur and a gentle expression. She is ready for a garden party or a stroll through the orchards in her meticulously handcrafted outfit. She wears a pristine white dress with a flared skirt, beautifully embroidered with bright yellow lemons and green leaves along the hemline. To ward off the gentle summer breeze, she has a delicate Lemon Yellow cardigan draped over her shoulders.

Her accessories are essential for a sunny day: a wide-brimmed straw-colored sun hat adorned with a soft green ribbon, and cute yellow sandals to protect her paws. She carries a woven-style tote basket filled with fresh-picked lemons, and even has a refreshing (crochet) glass of lemonade. Keeping her company is a round, fuzzy little Bumblebee. This pattern is perfect for intermediate crocheters who love embroidery details and constructing miniature wardrobes.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the bear body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished bear stands approximately 28 cm (11 inches) tall. The clothing is designed to be removable, allowing for dress-up play. The accessories are miniature scale.

Construction Overview

The bear is constructed in pieces. The legs are made first, then joined to form the body. The head is crocheted separately and sewn on to allow for better neck definition. The muzzle is sewn on. The dress is worked from the neck down with a flared skirt, and the lemon details are embroidered on afterwards (surface embroidery). The cardigan is worked flat. The hat is worked in rounds with a wide brim. The accessories—basket, lemons, lemonade, and bee—are detailed miniatures.
