The Woodland Fairy Mouse – Free Crochet Pattern

Enter a world of whimsy and magic with “The Woodland Fairy Mouse.” Deep in the enchanted forest, where the moss is soft and the fireflies dance, lives this gentle guardian of nature. She is not just a mouse; she is a spirit of the woods, dressed in the petals of wildflowers and guided by the light of her tiny friends.

This exquisite amigurumi character features soft, light grey fur and oversized, attentive ears that hear every whisper of the wind. Her attire is a masterpiece of woodland couture. She wears a breathtaking dress constructed from layers of individual “petals” in shades of dusty pink and mauve, mimicking an inverted flower bloom. The bodice is textured and fitted, accented by a leafy green collar. Perched atop her head is a charming hat fashioned from a flower calyx, complete with a stem and leafy brim in moss green. On her back, she sports delicate, gossamer-like dragonfly wings crocheted with fine white yarn to achieve a transparent effect. She steps lightly in beige ballet slippers with laces winding up her ankles. Her accessories are essential for a fairy’s work: a cross-body bag shaped like a fallen acorn, a rustic magic wand topped with a star, and a loyal, glowing firefly companion. This pattern is designed for intermediate crocheters who are ready to create a fairytale heirloom.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished mouse measures approximately 25 cm (10 inches) tall (excluding the hat stem). The dress skirt is voluminous and requires patience to layer correctly.

Construction Overview

The mouse is constructed in pieces. The legs are made first, starting with the ballet slippers, and joined to form the body. The dress bodice is integrated into the body color changes, but the petal skirt is crocheted separately and attached to front loops on the waist. The head is round with a distinct snout. The hat is a separate piece shaped like a sepal. The wings are worked flat with open stitches to look transparent. The accessories are detailed miniatures.
