The “Winter Camellia” Bunny – Free Knitting Pattern

Her ensemble is a masterclass in rich textures and bold colors. She is dressed in a luxurious Dark Green Velvet-Style Dress, knitted to mimic the smooth, deep finish of winter foliage. To brave the cold, she wraps herself in a glamorous Snow White Faux Fur Cardigan, adding a layer of softness and sophistication. Her accessories provide the signature pop of color: a Headband adorned with a magnificent, multi-layered Hot Pink Camellia, and matching Hot Pink Ballet Flats. She illuminates the dark winter evenings with a knitted Lantern and is accompanied by a brilliant red Northern Cardinal perched on a patch of snow.

Gauge & Finished Size

Construction Overview

  • Bunny: Worked in the round from the feet up. Legs are knitted separately, then joined to form the hips. The body and head are one continuous piece. Arms and ears are knitted separately and sewn on.
  • Velvet Dress: Worked flat from the bottom up. Stockinette stitch is used to create a smooth, velvet-like fabric surface.
  • Faux Fur Cardigan: Worked flat. Using textured yarn or a Garter stitch creates the thick, cozy look of a fur coat.
  • Camellia Headband: The flower is constructed in layers (petals) and attached to a simple band.
  • Accessories: The Lantern is a cylinder with color changes; the Cardinal is a shaped bird with a crest.
