Striped Shirt Body

This is a simple band that wraps around the torso under the jumper dress.

With cream, ch 26.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (25)
Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc across (25) – cream
Row 3: join dusty blue, ch 1, sc across (25)
Row 4: ch 1, turn, sc across (25) – dusty blue
Row 5: change to cream, ch 1, sc across (25)

FO leaving a long tail.

Wrap this band around the upper body so the stripes run horizontally and the seam sits at the back. Sew short ends together. Slide up so the top edge is just under where the head will sit. The striped arms will visually continue the shirt.

Cream Jumper Dress

Use cream yarn.

Skirt

Round 1: ch 30, join with sl st, taking care not to twist (30)
Round 2: ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to first (30)

Round 5–7: ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st (42)

FO and weave in. Slip the skirt up from the legs to the waist so it sits over the shirt band.

Waistband & Bib

Reattach cream yarn at the center front, working into the top edge of Round 2 of the skirt.

Row 1: ch 1, work 14 sc across the front top edge (14)
Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc across (14)
Row 3: ch 1, turn, sc across (14)

This rectangle should sit snugly against the belly.

Bib Panel

Row 4: ch 1, turn, sc2tog, 10 sc, sc2tog (12)
Row 5: ch 1, turn, sc across (12)
Row 6: ch 1, turn, sc across (12)

FO. This gives a small slightly curved bib like in the photo.

Straps

Attach cream yarn to the top left corner of the bib.

Strap 1: ch 14, FO with tail.

Attach yarn to the top right corner.

Strap 2: ch 14, FO with tail.

Cross the straps at the back, try the dress on the cow and sew strap ends to the back of the waistband. The straps should sit close to the neck, matching the look of the jumper dress.

Tiny “Buttons” on Bib

With brown yarn, embroider two small French knots or sew two tiny brown stitches where the straps meet the bib front.

Flower Embroidery on Skirt

With green yarn, embroider two small stems and leaves on the front lower part of the skirt, left and right. With yellow yarn, add a tiny circle at the top of each stem for the flower centers and a few short straight stitches around each center for petals. Match placement to the photo: low near the hem, one flower on each side.

Newsboy Cap (brown)

Worked in joined rounds.

Round 1: MR, 6 sc, join (6)
Round 2: ch 1, inc in each st, join (12)

Round 2: sc, inc x 3 (9)
Round 3: 2 sc, inc x 3 (12)

Tote Bag (cream)

Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: sc, inc x 3 (9)
Round 3: 2 sc, inc x 3 (12)
Round 4: BLO, sc around (12)
Rounds 5–7: sc around (12)

Round 8: sc, dec x 4 (8)

FO and weave in the inside end.

Handle

Attach cream yarn to one side of the rim.

ch 10, sl st into the opposite rim stitch to create a handle loop. FO and secure ends inside.

The tote should be small enough to hang from the cow’s hand and hold a miniature glass milk bottle prop.

Assembly

  • Join Legs to Body
Sew legs to the bottom of the body, slightly apart so the cow can stand balanced. Make sure the front of the shoes faces forward.
  • Attach Tail
Sew the tail to the back of the body near the lower center. Let the brown tip point slightly downward.
  • Dress the Body
    1. Wrap the striped shirt band around the upper torso and sew the back seam.
    2. Slide the jumper skirt into place at the waist.
    3. Cross the straps at the back and sew securely to the waistband.
  • Add Head
Sew the head onto the body, aligning the face with the center of the bib. Take time to stitch all around firmly.
  • Muzzle, Horns, Hair & Ears
    1. Pin the muzzle between the eyes and a little below them; sew around, blending edges into the head.
    2. Place the hair patch slightly above the center of the forehead. Stitch in place.
    3. Position horns just above the hair patch on each side; sew firmly.
    4. Attach ears just under the horns, angling them outward and slightly downward to frame the face.
  • Arms
Sew arms to the sides of the body at the level of the shirt top. Angle one arm relaxed at the side and the other slightly forward to hold the tote.
  • Cap & Shoes
Place the newsboy cap on the head so the brim tilts a bit forward. You can add a stitch at the back to keep it secure or leave it removable. Adjust shoes and tack them if desired.
  • Tote
Slip the tote handle over the forward arm. Add a small glass milk bottle into the tote to match the miniature milk stand vibe (the bottle is a purchased miniature prop, not crocheted).

Finishing Touches

  • Check that all pieces are firmly attached and all yarn tails are woven in.
  • Shape the cow gently, pressing stuffing where needed to keep the body straight and the head upright.
  • Smooth the dress, adjust the straps, and make sure the embroidery and stripes are visible from the front.

Your Farm Fresh Milk Cow is now ready to stand beside a tiny wooden milk stall with real miniature bottles and plants, just like in the photo.
