
Intro
Meet the Farmer’s Market Bunny—a cream bunny in an olive wrap-style dress decorated with mini carrot & beet appliqués, a warm pumpkin-spice cardigan, cream lace-up shoes, and an olive beret with a tiny carrot pin. She carries a cream basket tote with a lavender sprig and a small “local & fresh” sign.

- Bunny (US 3): 26 sts × 36 rows = 4”/10 cm in st st, lightly blocked.
- Clothes (US 5): 22 sts × 30 rows = 4”/10 cm in st st.
- Finished Height: standing 10.5 in / 27 cm (without beret).
Construction Overview
- Bunny knit in the round from feet → legs → join for body → neck → head; arms separate and sewn on; ears flat and sewn with a soft bend; tail small and round.
- Outfit: olive wrap-look dress (one piece), cropped cardigan, beret with carrot pin, lace-up shoes.

The Bunny (all with Yarn A, US 3)
Feet & Legs (make 2)
CO 8 sts on dpns.
Rnd 1: kfb around – 16.
Rnd 2: k1, kfb around – 24.
Rnd 3: k2, kfb around – 32.
Rnd 4–7: knit even (toe dome).
Rnd 8 (define instep): k12, pm, k8, pm, k12.
Rnd 9: to 1st m, k2tog, k4, ssk between markers, k to end – 30.

Repeat Rnds 9–10 2 more times – 26.
Rnd 15–18: knit even; begin stuffing.

Lightly stuff from hand to mid-arm; leave top unstuffed. Leave tails to sew.
Ears (make 2, worked flat)
CO 10 sts.
Row 1 (RS): k.
Row 2: kfb, k to last st, kfb – 12.
Rows 3–18: st st with garter selvedges (k first/last st each row).
Row 19: ssk, k to last 2 sts, k2tog – 10.
Repeat Row 19 to 4 sts.
Next: k2tog twice – 2, then k2tog – 1.
Fasten off with long tail. Fold lengthwise slightly; sew to head so ears stand with a soft outward roll.
Tail
CO 6 sts.
Rnd 1: kfb around – 12.
Rnd 2–3: knit.
Rnd 4: k2tog around – 6. Close; attach low back.
Face
Embroider a small rose-pink V nose centered 2 rnds below eye line; add a delicate mouth curve.
Olive Wrap-Style Dress (B, US 5)
This dress mimics a wrap with a V-neck bodice and center-front waist tie detail but is worked in the round for the skirt.
Bodice (worked flat, top-down):
CO 42 sts.
Row 1 (RS): k1, p1 rib for 4 rows to form a neat neck edge.
Row 5 (shape V): k1, k to center 2 sts, k2tog, yo, k2tog (V point), k to last st, k1.
Row 6 (WS): purl.
Repeat Rows 5–6 3 more times, decreasing 2 sts at the V each RS row – 34 sts remain.
Work 6 rows st st even.
Separate for armholes:
Row (RS): k8 (Left Front), BO 2, k14 (Back), BO 2, k8 (Right Front).
Work each section separately for 6 rows in st st.
Join Underarm & Begin Skirt in the Round:
With RS facing, pick up and knit 4 sts over each bound-off armhole gap, then knit across all sections onto one circular and pm at center back—34 + 8 = 42 sts total in the round.
Waist Tie Detail:
Rnd 1: at center front, k1, yo, k2tog to place a small eyelet; continue knit around.
Rnd 2–3: knit. (Later thread a short i-cord to mimic a wrap tie.)
Skirt A-line:
Work stockinette in the round.
Every 4th rnd: inc 6 sts evenly (m1L/m1R) until you have 102 sts and the skirt measures 3.75 in / 9.5 cm from underarm.
Hem with Subtle Weight:
Work garter hem (k 1 rnd, p 1 rnd) × 3, then BO loosely purlwise.
Lightly block.
Vegetable Appliqués (D/E/F)
Carrot (E + F):
CO 3 sts with E.
Row 1: kfb, k1, kfb – 5.
Row 2: p.
Row 3: k, dec 1 at each edge (ssk, k1, k2tog) – 3.
Row 4: p; BO.
Leaves: with F, embroider 3–4 lazy-daisy stitches on wide end.
Beet (D + F):
CO 4 sts with D.
Row 1: kfb, k2, kfb – 6.
Row 2: p.

Leaves: with F, 2–3 long stitches upward, branching.
Stitch the carrot on the viewer’s left skirt panel and the beet on the viewer’s right, about 1” above hem.
Faux Waist Tie (B):
Make an i-cord 2 sts × 6”/15 cm. Thread through the eyelet at center front and tack ends at side seams so it “wraps” across the waist.
Pumpkin-Spice Cardigan (C, US 5)
Cropped, open front, set-in shape knit top-down raglan for simplicity.
CO 46 sts, work k1, p1 rib for 6 rows flat.
Setup (RS): k3 (button band), pm, k6 (raglan A), pm, k12 (Left Front), pm, k6 (raglan B), pm, k10 (Back), pm, k6 (raglan C), pm, k12 (Right Front), pm, k6 (raglan D), pm, k3 (button band).
Raglan Inc: On every RS row, m1L before and m1R after each raglan marker; on WS, purl between bands, keeping 3-st garter bands in knit. Work 10 RS inc rows.
Divide for Body:
Place sleeve sts on waste yarn, CO 4 under each arm, work body even for 7 rows.
Hem: k1,p1 rib 8 rows, BO in rib.
Sleeves (in the round):
Pick up sleeve sts + 4 underarm; knit 10 rnds, then k1,p1 rib 6 rnds, BO.
Sew three small decorative buttons on right band (optional; cardigan is worn open).
Olive Beret with Carrot Pin (B + E + F, US 5)
Crown:
CO 72 sts, join, pm.
Rnd 1–4: k.
Rnd 5 (increase to puff): k6, m1L around – 84.
Rnd 6: k.
Rnd 7: k7, m1L – 96.
Rnd 8–16: knit even (classic soft beret dome).
Shaping:

With F, make two short leaf stitches. Tack the carrot to beret band, slightly right of center.
Cream Lace-Up Shoes (A, US 3)
Soles (make 2):
CO 6 sts.
Row 1 (RS): kfb, k4, kfb – 8.
Row 2 (WS): k (garter sole throughout).
Row 3: kfb, k6, kfb – 10.
Row 4: k.
Row 5: kfb, k8, kfb – 12.
Rows 6–14: k every row; BO.
Steam to set the oval.
Uppers:
Pick up 34 sts evenly around the sole edge.
Rnd 1–2: knit.
Rnd 3 (toe curve): place side markers; on each rnd ssk 1 st before front center and k2tog 1 st after front center for 3 rnds to round the toe.
Rnd 6–8: knit even.
Tongue:
At center front, work 8 sts flat for 6 rows in st st; BO.
Collar & Eyelets:
With remaining live sts around the ankle, work k1,p1 rib 4 rnds. On Rnd 2, make two small eyelets each side (yo, k2tog) aligned with the tongue. BO in rib.
Laces:
I-cord 2 sts × 6.5”/16.5 cm each; thread and tie in bows.

Basket Body (A, US 3):

Base: pick up 42 sts around one edge; work in the round:

Rim: at opposite edge, pick up 42 sts, k1,p1 rib 4 rnds, BO.
Handle: i-cord 3 sts × 6”/15 cm, sew ends just inside rim.
Lavender Sprig (G + F, US 3):
Stem (F): i-cord 2 sts × 2.75”/7 cm.
Flower (G): embroider dense French knots or tiny wrapped bumps along top 1”/2.5 cm of stem. Tuck into basket and catch with a stitch.
“Local & Fresh” Market Sign
Panel (H, US 3):
CO 16 sts, work garter stitch 18 rows; BO.
Frame (A): pick up sts evenly around panel edge and work 1 rnd knit, then i-cord attached edging (CO 3, k2, ssk with next picked-up st, slide back, repeat).
Letters: with A or white embroidery thread, backstitch “local & fresh” in a tidy script.
Optional: attach a short i-cord loop as a handle or lash the sign to a small skewer; place in bunny’s right hand.
Assembly
- Sew Arms to body slightly below neck, angled so hands hang just forward.
- Attach Ears with a gentle outward roll; secure well.
- Dress First: put on the olive dress; center the faux tie at front.
- Cardigan On: sleeves to wrist, body cropped at dress waist; wear open.
- Shoes: slip on; tie laces in neat bows.
- Beret: tilt slightly to the bunny’s left; carrot pin facing front.
- Accessories: hang basket over left wrist with lavender peeking out; place the sign in the right hand.
Finishing & Blocking
- Body: do not steam the stuffed body—shape with your hands.
- Clothes: light steam or wet-block the dress hem to lie flat and the cardigan bands to stay even.

- Details: trim all ends invisibly; secure accessories with a discreet stitch if the toy is handled often.
Care
Spot clean with cool water and mild soap. Keep away from heat and pets. If gifting to a child under three, embroider eyes instead of using safety eyes and stitch small parts firmly.
