Assembly Order

  1. Dress bear in skirt.
  2. Put on cardigan; sew three buttons to match buttonholes.
  3. Sew head to body using the body tail; add extra stuffing to neck as you close.
  4. Attach arms at Body Rnds 14–15, angled slightly forward (right paw holds marker, left holds card).
  5. Sew tail at Body R8–9.
  6. Put on shoes.
  7. Place hat; a hidden tack behind one ear keeps it steady if gifting.
  8. Fit glasses on face, bridge centered over nose.
  9. Slip backpack on and tighten strap placement so jar sits mid-back.
  10. Pose with library card in left hand; highlighter in right; set reading log and leaf bookmark on the table.

Fit Notes & Adjustments

  • Standing balance: add a coin/washer under each insole before sewing the upper, cover with felt.
  • Hat too loose: reduce one increase round or add a round of sc through the inside crown as a tightening band.
  • Skirt length: remove or add one sc round before the hem to fine-tune above-knee length exactly as pictured.
  • Glasses alignment: if rings slide, add a tiny transparent elastic behind the head under the hat brim.

Care & Safety

For small children, embroider eyes and secure all small props (glasses, marker, card) permanently, or omit. Hand wash gently, reshape, dry flat. Avoid heat sources and rough play.

Quick Build Checklist

  1. Head, muzzle, ears, body, arms, legs, tail → stuff and close.
  2. Cardigan, skirt, hat, shoes → dress the bear.
  3. Honey-jar backpack with lid & straps → put on.
  4. Glasses, library card, reading log, leaf bookmark, highlighter → stage.
  5. Final tweaks: cheek blush, button alignment, plaid lines lying flat.
