ASSEMBLY

Join Legs to Body

Pin both legs to body base so feet angle forward and the bear sits upright. Stitch flat tops of legs to Rnd 2–3 of body. Ensure equal spacing and stability.

Attach Body to Head

Center the head over the narrow top of body; ladder stitch closed body opening to head Rnds 23–24. Keep the head straight with a soft “chin” line.

Muzzle, Eyes, Ears

  • Position muzzle between eye line and Rnd 15 of head; stitch around and add a small extra puff of stuffing before closing.
  • Lock safety eyes already placed; embroider gentle brows with C one round above eyes for expression.
  • Fold ears slightly; attach symmetrically about 7 sts back from center top, leaving a tiny pinch at the base for realism.

Arms & Tail

  • Stitch flattened arm tops to body sides at shoulder height, angling forward so the hands can “hold” cup or rest near lap.
  • Attach tail to lower back centered for balance.

SHIRT INSTALLATION

  • Slide yoke over head with the 9-st back centered. Align lower edge approximately at body Rnd 12–13.
  • Whipstitch the yoke’s inner edge to the body all around, keeping the neckline neat and slightly scooped at front.
  • Close underarm of each sleeve with 1–2 stitches if needed; weave ends.
  • With E, embroider skinny vertical pinstripes (optional) every 2–3 sts across the yoke and sleeves to mimic subtle woven stripes.

APRON FITTING

  • Tie neck cords behind the head at collar level.
  • Wrap waistband straps around back and tie in a small bow to the left side so it peeks in front.
  • The apron skirt should cover to mid-thigh while seated; adjust row count if your gauge differs.

BEANIE FIT

  • Place beanie so it sits just above ears; roll brim once. If looser, run a drawstring of elastic thread inside the last round.

CROSSBODY BAG

  • Drape strap from right shoulder to left hip. Tack a single stitch at shoulder and hip to keep the strap in place without shifting.

SHOES

  • Slip shoes over feet. Tie tiny bows. Tack at heel if you want them non-removable.

CUP POSE

  • Place cup in one hand; secure with a few invisible stitches. Angle the lid’s foam slightly forward, as in a candid café shot.

FINISHING & DETAILS

  • Surface stitch a tiny “coffee bean” on the cup sleeve: embroider an oval in C with a single split line.
  • With F, add two small “pockets” to apron by sewing two rectangles of chain-then-sc fabric (6 sts × 4 rows) onto the front panel.
  • Light blush: rub a minimal amount of pink pastel onto cheeks (optional).
  • Groom all yarn fuzz lightly; do not trim too close to preserve the natural fiber look.

Pattern Notes for Accuracy

  • The head is intentionally taller than wide for a gentle, modern plush profile.
  • Safety eyes position (between Rnds 13–14, 10 sts apart) creates the open, friendly gaze.
  • The shirt is a decorative yoke; it reads as a lightweight knit under the apron without bulk that would distort the body silhouette.
  • Apron bib width (10 sts) visually matches the gap between arm fronts; waistband straps are long to tie off-center like in the image.
  • Beanie circumference (36 sts) fits snugly over a 54-st head crown.
  • Cup scale (approx 5–5.5 cm tall) matches the paw proportion and reads clearly as a to-go drink.
  • Shoes are low-cut and rounded—not boots—to keep the style soft and café-casual.

Troubleshooting & Adjustments

  • If your fabric shows gaps, go down 0.25–0.5 mm in hook size or choose a tighter-twist cotton.
  • If the head tilts, reopen 3–4 stitches at the neck join and add stuffing beneath the “chin,” then resew.
  • For extra seated stability, flatten the leg tops more before stitching and add a small beanbag in the body base.

Recap

This pattern builds a seated Barista Buddy Bear with crisp, visible stitches, natural proportions, and layered accessories: a stripe-yoke shirt, brown apron with pockets, rolled-brim beanie, mini crossbody bag, rounded shoes, and a removable to-go cup crowned with a foam spiral. Keep your tension even for stitch clarity and assemble in the noted order to match the look precisely. Enjoy crafting your cozy café companion!
