Introduction

Meet the Tea Room Bunny—a soft, cuddly rabbit in pastel tones, styled for a cozy afternoon tea. She wears a lavender beret with one little stem on top, a blush-pink tee with a teacup motif, blue dungaree shorts with rolled hems and mock-wood knit buttons, cream Mary Jane shoes, and a round shortbread crossbody bag. For the set styling, a small knit teapot and plate with cookies sit on the table beside her.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Form & Proportion Analysis (Read Before Knitting)

  • Overall height: ~21–22 cm (8¼–8¾”) when worked at firm toy gauge with sport/light DK yarn and 2.75 mm (US 2) needles.
  • Fabric density: Smooth stockinette at ~30–32 sts × 42–44 rnds = 10 cm/4″. Knit firmly so stuffing does not show.
  • Head: Slightly oval (wider than deep), ~6.5–7 cm tall × ~6.2–6.6 cm wide. Cheeks gently rounded; nose sits a little below center.
  • Ears: Droopy ovals ~3.2–3.5 cm long, attached low and forward at the sides, inner edges slightly closer to the face than outer edges (gives a sweet forward tilt).
  • Body: Pear-shaped torso ~7.5–8 cm tall, with a subtle tummy and narrower shoulders.
  • Arms: Cylinders ~5–5.5 cm long; light stuffing; top 1 cm left soft for articulated look.
  • Legs/Feet: Each leg ~5.5–6 cm from hip to sole; feet sized to fit Mary Janes snugly. Legs parallel, ~3 cm apart.
  • Tail: Small rounded nub centered low back.
  • Beret: Lavender, shallow crown with a single i-cord stem (not two), sitting low on the head just above the ears.
  • Tee: Pastel pink; short sleeves with rolled edges; teacup motif centered on chest (intarsia/duplicate stitch).
  • Dungaree shorts: Soft blue; front bib and straps with four small round knit buttons; neat rolled hems.
  • Shoes: Cream Mary Janes with a tiny knit “button” at outer side; sock-like ankle visible.
  • Bag: Round shortbread biscuit look (golden tan), four chocolate “holes” (duplicate stitch), thin cream i-cord strap crossing from left shoulder to right hip.
  • Props: Small cream teapot with lid knob; matching cream plate rim; two tan cookies on plate.

ASSEMBLY & DRESSING

Block & Prep

  • Lightly steam the tee neckline and sleeve edges so the subtle roll is controlled.
  • Steam the dungaree hems to keep the gentle curl.
  • Shape the beret while warm; keep the single stem upright and centered.
  • Weave in all ends neatly on the inside.

Attach Parts

  1. Ears: Sew low and forward on the head sides; front edge 1–2 sts lower than back.
  2. Arms: Attach at the torso’s shoulder taper.
  3. Tail: Center low back, slight upward tilt.
  4. Face: Embroider nose and mouth; confirm eyes are level.

Dress the Bunny

  • Slide on the tee first; motif centered.
  • Pull up dungaree shorts; cross straps to front bib, secure to knit “buttons.”
  • Put on Mary Janes and tack the strap nub on the outer side.
  • Pop on the lavender beret so it sits low over the ears; stem centered.
  • Sling the shortbread bag from left shoulder across to right hip.

Troubleshooting for a Photo-Perfect Match

  • Head looks too tall: Add 2 plain rounds before cheek/snout rise or stuff lower head more.
  • Ears don’t droop: Soften with steam, then re-sew with front edges slightly lower.
  • Tee rides up: Add 2 body rounds before armhole split; ensure rib band isn’t tight.
  • Dungaree bib buckles: Pick up fewer stitches across the waist or block bib flat.
  • Shoes loose: Reduce upper pick-up count by 2 sts or work one extra decrease at toe.
  • Bag flops: Insert a thin card circle or add a few extra stuffing wisps.

Safety & Care

For children under three, embroider the eyes instead of using safety eyes, and secure all small accessories. Hand-wash cool, gently squeeze water out in a towel, and lay flat to dry. Store the teapot and cookies in a small box or pouch to keep the set together.

Enjoy your Tea Room Bunny—a sweet companion ready for an afternoon of tea and biscuits in the coziest corner of your home!
