Cottagecore Pie Baker Sheep – Free Knitting Pattern

Hình ảnh Ghim câu chuyện

Bake-day charm in a cuddly package! This pattern builds a sheep with a fluffy wool cap, puff-sleeve blouse, apron-dress with berry sprigs, Mary Janes, a kerchief, and a set of cozy props: lattice pie on a plate, a basket, and an oven mitt. Work at a firm toy gauge so shapes stay crisp and seams vanish.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Form & Proportion Notes (from the reference image)

  • Overall height: ~9.5–10 in (24–25.5 cm) standing; ~7.75–8 in (19.5–20 cm) seated.
  • Head: softly oval (not a perfect sphere), ~3 in (7.5 cm) wide; gentle forward tilt. Face is smooth stockinette with tiny oval eyes and a vertical nose/mouth line.
  • Ears & wool: medium ears with rounded tips; outer edge smooth, inner edge fluffy. A small bouclé wool cap sits on the crown and along the ear bases—loop/cluster texture, not all over the head.
  • Body: pear/egg silhouette; neck nearly invisible; torso height (neck to base) ~4.7 in (12 cm).
  • Arms: slim tubes, ~3.2 in (8.1 cm) long; palms rounded with no thumbs.
  • Legs/Feet: straight legs; feet fit Mary Jane shoes with braided-rope effect soles; little socks peek above.
  • Tail: tiny pom ~1–1.2 in (2.5–3 cm).
  • Outfit (match the photo):
    1. Apron-dress: A-line skirt to mid-calf; bib front; straps cross in back; pocket on bib; scattered berry sprigs (duplicate stitch) in rose and butter on a cream base; waist tie bow.
    2. Blouse: soft sage puff sleeves with narrow lettuce-edge ruffles; simple round collar.
    3. Shoes: blush Mary Janes with rope-look sole and buttonless strap.
    4. Headscarf: triangle kerchief in dusty pink with tiny cream polka dots.
    5. Props: lidded pie with lattice in a shallow plate; woven-look basket with hinged handle; single oven mitt; recipe card/board.

Color Map (to match the reference)

  • Shoes & scarf: dusty blush with oatmeal rope sole
  • Basket & crust: wheat/caramel; plate: stone gray
  • Embroidery: dark brown/black for face

Blocking & Styling Tips

  • Steam the ruffles and collar lightly so they open without flopping.
  • Smooth the apron hem to keep the A-line crisp; add two tiny tacks at side seams if it twists.
  • Shape the Mary Jane straps while warm so they arch neatly over the instep.
  • Puff the wool cap with your fingertips after steaming to revive loops.

Fit Tweaks

  • Head too large at your gauge? Stop head increases at 48 sts (omit Rnd 11) and proceed; body proportions will still read correctly.
  • Want a fuller skirt? Add one more increase round (k9, m1L) before the hem.
  • Shoes snug? Work uppers on US 5 or remove one toe-decrease repeat.
  • Prefer longer puff sleeves? Add 2–3 plain rounds before the lettuce edge.
