Introduction

Meet the Café Barista Bear—a friendly amigurumi in a cream V-neck short-sleeve shirt, teal pinstripe trousers with rolled cuffs, brown oxfords, a teal newsboy cap, a rust crossbody satchel, and a tiny dangling espresso cup charm.

Materials Needed

  • Yarn (DK/Light #3, cotton or cotton-blend, matte finish)

    6. Shoes & belt (chocolate brown) – Color S ~30 g
    7. Cap & belt loops highlight (teal, same as trousers) – Color Cap (use T) ~15 g
    8. Satchel (rust) – Color R ~20 g
  • Hooks: 2.5 mm (amigurumi pieces), 3.0 mm (clothes/accessories).
  • Safety eyes: 8 mm black ×2.
  • Stuffing: polyester fiberfill.
  • Notions: stitch markers, yarn needle, scissors, 8–10 mm button or small snap (satchel flap), optional thin cardboard (shoe insoles).
  • Optional: 1 mm florist wire for cap brim (cap ends).

Color & Placement Map (match-the-photo coordinates)

  • Eyes: inserted between Head Rnds 12–13, 8 sts apart.
  • Muzzle: spans Rnds 14–18; nose centered on Rnd 16 with short smile.
  • Ears: sewn across Rnds 4–6 of head, tilted ~10° outward.
  • Arms: attach at Body Rnd 22 (counting down from neck seam).
  • Trousers cuffs: a single rolled cuff two rounds tall; cuff top sits just above shoe quarter.
  • Satchel strap: runs right shoulder → left hip; bag body rests at upper thigh height.
  • Mini cup charm: hangs from left wrist by a short cord.
  • Belt: visible through front belt loops; buckle area centered.

Pattern Notes

  • Work pieces in continuous rounds unless stated; use a marker.

V-Neck & Collar (worked flat)
13. At center front, sl st to split. Work rows back and forth over front halves:

Rows 3–6: rep neck dec each row (17). FO.
Repeat for left front mirroring. Join shoulders to back with sl st.

Neckline edging

  • With C, sc evenly around neck, working a neat V by (sc, ch 1, sc) at the tip.
    Sleeve cuffs
  • Around each armhole pick up 24 sts; sc 3 rnds. FO.

Coffee bean pocket patch (embroidery)

  • On left chest, embroider a small oval bean in S with a curved line; outline pocket with surface sl stitch.

Teal Pinstripe Trousers (Color T with P for stripes)

Waistband

  1. ch 52; join (52).
  2. BLO sc around (52).
  3. hdc around (52).

Body
4–6. sc (52).
7. Divide for legs: sc 26, sl st to join; first leg is 26 sts.

Leg 1
8–12. sc (26).
13. Cuff: hdc 1 rnd, then reverse sc 1 rnd to create a soft roll; FO.

Leg 2

  • Reattach to the remaining 26 sts and rep Rnds 8–13.

Belt loops (Color T)

  • Make 5 loops: (ch 6, sl st back) and sew evenly around waistband.

Pinstripes (Color P)

  • With P, surface slip stitch vertical stripes spaced every 4 sts around both legs and body. Keep tension even so fabric remains smooth.

Brown Belt (Color S)

  • I-cord strap: ch 60; sl st back along chain to form a neat band. Thread through loops.
  • Buckle: embroider a small rectangle at center front with P; tack belt ends so a short tail overlaps.

Rust Crossbody Satchel (Color R)

Back panel

Assembly

  • Sew strip around back panel to create a tray.

Front flap

  1. ch 14; sc 13 for 6 rows; round the tip by (hdc, dc, hdc) across the last row and sl st down edges.
  • Add a tiny button/snap.

Strap

  • ch 85–90; sl st back for a firm cord. Attach so it runs right shoulder → left hip.
  • Optional edge top-stitch: surface sl st around flap.

Mini Espresso Cup Charm (Color P)

  1. Cup: MR 6 sc; inc around (12); sc 2 rnds; BLO sc 1 rnd; FLO sl st around to create rim; FO.
  2. Handle: ch 6; sl st back and sew to cup side.
  3. Cord: with R (or S), ch 12–14; attach to left wrist of the bear. Cup should hang just below the paw as in the photo.

ASSEMBLY & FINISHING

Order of Assembly

  1. Sew head to body; keep seam vertical.
  2. Attach ears across head Rnds 4–6; angle outward ~10°.
  3. Sew arms at Body Rnd 22, slightly forward.
  4. Dress the bear: shirt → trousers → belt → shoes.
  5. Put on newsboy cap, tug brim slightly down.
  6. Fit satchel (right shoulder to left hip) and tack strap at shoulder to prevent slipping.
  7. Knot on the mini cup charm at left wrist.

Stuffing & Shaping Tips

  • Cheeks: concentrate stuffing at lower sides to keep a friendly round face without pushing the eyes upward.
  • Muzzle: light stuffing; flatten slightly when sewing to keep the nose oval.
  • Feet: form the toe with your fingers after Rnd 6 so the oxfords read clearly.
  • Trouser cuffs: steam lightly to hold the rolled edge; avoid over-steaming the pinstripe surface stitches.

  • Height 25–26 cm; head ≈ body height.
  • Eyes between Rnds 12–13, 8 sts apart; muzzle centered Rnds 14–18 with small oval nose at Rnd 16.
