Introduction

A cozy beige bunny stands on a wooden table in a bright yellow hooded raincoat, moss-green shorts, and brown lace-up shoes, holding an open charcoal umbrella with a curved wooden handle. The ears sit upright, the eyes are small and glossy, and the face is softly embroidered. This pattern is written to reproduce the photo exactly—proportions, textures, colors, and accessories.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Form & Proportion Analysis (Step 1)

  • Overall height: ~27–28 cm (ears up). Seated height ~21 cm.
  • Head vs. body: head is slightly fuller than torso; head:body ≈ 1.05:1 by height.
  • Head shape: near-oval sphere with subtle cheek fullness beneath the eyes; eyes are level and set wide.
  • Ears: tall, slim ovals, planted on the crown with a gentle outward splay (≈10–12°).
  • Arms: cylindrical, lightly stuffed past the “wrist” so sleeves drape naturally.
  • Legs/feet: compact calves with distinct shoe forms (not boots) and visible knit laces.
  • Clothing:
    1. Raincoat: smooth stockinette body with folded cuffs, two patch pockets, three round buttons, integrated hood sitting behind upright ears. Hem covers the top of shorts.
    2. Shorts: olive/moss green, slim fit, ribbed waistband, legs end mid-thigh.
    3. Shoes: warm brown, rounded toe, separate sole edge, knitted i-cord laces tied in a bow.
  • Umbrella: open canopy ~15–16 cm diameter, dark gray; slim black shaft and a small brown J-handle held in the right hand; canopy tilted slightly forward of the ears.

PATTERN (Step 2)

Materials Needed

  • Yarn (DK/8-ply, non-fuzzy wool or wool-blend):
    1. Bunny: 40 g beige (MC)
    2. Shorts: 20 g moss/olive green
    3. Raincoat & hood: 35–40 g butter yellow
    4. Shoes & handle accent: 20 g warm brown
    5. Umbrella canopy: 15 g charcoal gray
    6. Umbrella shaft/ribs: scraps black
  • Needles
    1. 3.25 mm circulars or DPNs for body parts (stockinette in the round)
    2. 3.0 mm needles for garments/shoes where a firmer fabric is desired
    3. 2.75 mm needles for i-cord laces and small details
  • Notions
    1. Safety eyes 8 mm (x2)
    2. 3 small round yellow/brown buttons (7–8 mm) for coat
    3. Matching sewing thread for buttons
    4. Toy stuffing (polyfill)
    5. Tapestry needle, markers, waste yarn
    6. Optional: two 8–10 cm pieces of thin floral wire for ear support
    7. A thin bamboo skewer or 3 mm dowel (16–18 cm) for umbrella shaft; a small circle of felt or thin plastic for canopy ring
    8. Pipe cleaner or 1 mm wire for umbrella ribs (optional)

Abbreviations (US Terms)

k, p, st(s), rnd(s), CO, BO, pm/sm = place/slide marker, kfb, m1L/m1R, ssk, k2tog, yo, tbl, RS/WS.
i-cord = knit all sts, slide to other needle end without turning, pull working yarn firmly.

Gauge & Finished Size

  • Gauge in the round (stockinette): 26 sts × 36 rnds = 10 cm/4″ on 3.25 mm with DK.
  • Finished bunny (ears up): 27–28 cm.
  • If your gauge differs, adjust needle size to keep shaping proportional.

Color & Placement Map (for photo accuracy)

  • Head/Body/Arms/Ears/Tail: beige.
  • Eyes: between Rnd 17–18 of head, 9 sts apart center-to-center.
  • Nose/Mouth: dark brown, centered on the Rnd 19 line.
  • Ear set-in: seam bases 1.5 cm apart, tilt outward.
  • Shorts: moss green; hem at mid-thigh.
  • Shoes: warm brown; laces in same brown.
  • Raincoat: butter yellow; three buttons; hood edge frames face with ears through.
  • Umbrella: charcoal canopy; black shaft; brown J-handle.

Pattern Notes

  • Most pieces are knit in the round for clean fabric.
  • Stuff firmly but keep the snout and ankles slightly softer.
  • Use mattress stitch for invisible seams; use ladder stitch to close openings.
  • Read clothing sections before final assembly to ensure sleeve and hood proportions line up with limb placement.

Accessory: Open Umbrella (knit + simple armature)

For display, not a toy for very young children.

Handle (brown; 2.75–3.0 mm)
Cast on 4 sts; knit i-cord for 5 cm.
Shape J-curve by threading thin wire inside or bending the cord while steaming and allowing to cool. Leave long tail to sew to shaft.

Shaft
Use a bamboo skewer/dowel 16–18 cm; paint or wrap with black yarn using a bit of fabric glue. Leave 1 cm bare at the top for canopy join.

Canopy (charcoal; 3.0 mm) – worked in wedges, then joined
Make 6 wedges.
CO 6.
Row 1 (RS): k.
Row 2 (WS): p.
Row 3: k, yo, k to end.
Rows 4–10: work st st, repeating Row 3’s yo every RS row at st 2 (radial inc).
Stop when you have 22 sts; BO loosely.
Sew the 6 wedges edge-to-edge to form a circle (wrong side inside).
Cut a felt/plastic ring Ø 1.5 cm for the center; whipstitch to wrong side to stabilize.
With black yarn, embroider 6 “rib” lines from center to each seam.
Pierce a small hole at the center; secure the shaft with hot glue or tightly sewn yarn wraps.
Attach the J-handle to the bottom of shaft with strong sewing thread and a dab of glue.
Optional: add tiny black i-cord tips (cast on 3 sts, i-cord 0.8 cm ×6) stitched to canopy points.

Holding pose
Sew the handle into the right hand: pass the i-cord through the palm opening before final closing, or stitch around the hand for a firm grip. Angle the shaft forward-left so the canopy sits above and slightly in front of the ears, like in the image.

Assembly

  1. Join head to body using ladder stitch; add a final puff of stuffing at the neck before closing.
  2. Sew ears 1.5 cm apart on crown; tilt outward ~10–12°. If wired, curve gently.
  3. Attach legs to underside so the bunny stands flat; align shoe toes forward.
  4. Attach arms slightly below neckline with a mild downward angle; keep stuffing light so sleeves hang naturally.
  5. Sew tail at lower back for balance.
  6. Dress order: shorts → shoes (tie laces) → raincoat (button) → hood up/down as desired.
  7. Place umbrella in right hand; stitch in two hidden points (hand and coat side seam) so it stays open as in the photo.

Finishing & Styling

  • Steam-block the raincoat hem and pocket lips flat; keep the hood edge rounded.
  • Tidy embroidery: nose small triangle with a short centered mouth line; add two tiny whisker flicks if desired.
  • For a seated look, shift stuffing back in hips and angle legs forward before seams set.
  • Photo-matching checks:
    1. Eyes between Rnds 17–18, 9 sts apart.
    2. Hood frames face; ears visible and unobstructed.
    3. Coat has three buttons; two patch pockets level with lower button.
    4. Shorts hem mid-thigh; shoes brown with visible bows.
    5. Umbrella canopy diameter ~15–16 cm, charcoal gray, tilted forward.

Quick Checklist (match the image)

  • Upright ears with outward splay.
  • Yellow hooded raincoat with 3 buttons, folded cuffs, 2 pockets.
  • Moss-green shorts; brown lace-up shoes.
