Meet the Christmas Cocoa Barista Bunny – a soft pastel amigurumi bunny dressed in a striped winter sweater, chocolate pinafore dress with cream ruffle, matching beret, cute Mary Jane shoes, and a tiny hot cocoa crossbody bag with a gingerbread cookie friend. Everything is crocheted to look like a real handmade product styled on a wooden table in cozy holiday light.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Materials
- Worsted weight (category 4) yarn in:
- Cream (main bunny body, sweater base, ruffle)
- Light beige or oatmeal (alternative body tone if desired)
- Brown (pinafore dress, shoes, cocoa mug, some details)
- Deep red (beret, shoe details, stripe on sweater)
- Soft sage/forest green (sweater stripe, candy cane detail)
- White (whipped cream, dots on dress, candy cane)
- Small amount of pink (cheeks and nose embroidery)
- Small amount of gingerbread brown (cookie)
- Crochet hook: 2.75–3.0 mm (use a size that gives you tight stitches with your yarn)
- 8 mm black safety eyes (2 pcs)
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing
- Yarn needle for sewing and embroidery
- Stitch markers
- Optional: tiny button or snap for back of sweater/pinafore (you can also sew closed)
Gauge & Finished Size
Exact gauge is not critical, but fabric should be firm so stuffing does not show.
As a reference:
- 18–20 sc x 20–22 rows ≈ 4 in (10 cm) with 3.0 mm hook in sc.
With the yarn and hook above, bunny height is approximately 8–9 in (20–23 cm) standing, not including candy cane on the beret.
Notes
- Work with tight tension for a neat, realistic stitch definition similar to photographed amigurumi.
- Stuff firmly but evenly, shaping as you go, especially in the head and feet for a rounded, plush look.
- The clothes and accessories are designed to fit this specific body size. If you use much thicker or thinner yarn, adjust hook size or stitch counts.
Construction Overview
- Crochet legs, join them and work body upward to the neck.
- Crochet head and ears, then attach to the body.
- Add arms and tail.
- Make the sweater, pinafore dress, beret, shoes, cocoa crossbody bag, and gingerbread cookie.
- Assemble, embroider the face and details, and style your bunny.

Clothing
Winter Sweater
Sweater is worked from the neckline downward in rows and seamed at the back, creating a pullover look with minimal opening.
Use cream as the main color.
Neckline
Row 1: ch 28, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (27)
Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc across (27)
Fold piece into a ring and sl st ends together or leave open with a small overlap for a button. Continue working in rounds from here if joined, or in rows if you want a back opening. Below assumes joined in the round (27 sts).
Rnd 3: sc around (27)
Yoke and Body
Rnd 4: (8 sc, inc) x 3 (30)
Rnd 5: sc around (30)
Rnd 6 (stripe): Join red, sc around (30)
Rnd 7: Join cream, sc around (30)
Rnd 8 (stripe): Join green, sc around (30)
Rnd 9: Join cream, sc around (30)
Rnd 10: (13 sc, inc, 14 sc, inc) (32)
Rnds 11–13: sc around (32)
FO.
Sleeve Rib Cuffs (optional): With sweater on bunny, pick up 9 sts around armhole area where arms will emerge and work 2–3 rnds of sc, then 1 rnd BLO sc for rib look. Alternatively, keep arms plain and sew directly onto body over sweater.
Because the sweater is mostly covered by the pinafore, keep it simple. Slip sweater onto bunny now or after assembly.
Pinafore Dress
Use brown for the main pinafore and cream for the ruffle.
Skirt Waistband
With brown, ch 30, join with sl st to form a ring (take care not to twist). This should fit snugly around bunny’s waist over the sweater.
Rnd 1: ch 1, sc in each ch around (30)
Rnds 2–3: sc around (30)
Skirt
Rnd 4: (sc, inc) around (45)
Rnds 5–7: sc around (45)
Rnd 8: Join cream, work in FLO: (sc, ch 1, skip next st) around for soft flare. (Still ~45 sts)
Rnd 9: Still in cream, work (2 sc in each ch-1 space) around to form ruffled hem. FO and weave in end.
Return to brown and the unused back loops of rnd 8 at the waist to build the bib.
Bib & Straps (worked flat)
Row 1: Attach brown yarn to back loop of any front-center st. Sc in next 10 sts across front only (10)
Rows 2–5: ch 1, turn, sc across (10)
Row 6 (start straps): ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 sts (2), ch 1 and turn, sc in these 2 sts for another 10 rows to form first strap. FO.
Attach brown yarn to the other side of the bib, sc 2, then repeat 10 rows for second strap.
Cross straps at the back over bunny’s shoulders and sew ends to back waistband. Place small white “dots” using white yarn:
- Embroider or surface crochet 4–5 small popcorns/bobbles randomly on the bib and front skirt to mimic cream drops.
Beret with Whipped Cream & Candy Cane
Use deep red for beret, cream and white/red for topping.
Beret
Rnd 1: With red, MR, 6 sc (6)
Rnd 2: inc around (12)
Rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
Rnd 6: (4 sc, inc) x 6 (36)
Rnds 7–8: sc around (36)
Rnd 9 (start band): BLO, (4 sc, dec) x 6 (30)
Rnd 10: (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24)
Rnd 11: sc around (24)
FO and weave in end. The beret should sit slightly tilted on bunny’s head.
Whipped Cream Puff
With cream:
Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Rnd 2: inc around (12)
Rnds 3–4: sc around (12)
Rnd 5: (sc, dec) x 4 (8)
Lightly stuff, FO leaving tail. Sew to center top of beret.
Candy Cane Stick
Using white:
Row 1: ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (9)
Rows 2–3: ch 1, turn, sc across (9)
FO, roll into a tight tube and stitch long edge together. Using red yarn, wrap spirals around the tube to create the candy cane stripe. Curve one end into a hook and secure. Sew base of cane behind whipped cream, so it leans slightly back.
Shoes (make 2)
Use brown for main shoe and cream for toe insert.
Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Rnd 2: inc around (12)
Rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Rnd 4: sc in BLO around (18)
Rnds 5–6: sc around (18)
Rnd 7: (4 sc, dec) x 3 (15)
Try the shoe on the leg; it should fit snugly.
Rnd 8: sc around (15)
Row 9 (opening): ch 1, turn, sc in next 11 sts only (leave 4 sts unworked for heel opening).
Row 10: ch 1, turn, sc across 11. FO.
Strap: Attach yarn at one side of opening, ch 8, sl st to other side to form Mary Jane strap.
Peppermint Circle (make 2): With cream, MR, 6 sc, sl st to first st, FO. Embroider red swirls to mimic peppermint candy. Sew one to toe of each shoe.
Accessories
Cocoa Crossbody Bag (Mug)
Use brown for mug, cream for froth, and brown or cream for strap.
Mug Body
Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Rnd 2: inc around (12)
Rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Rnds 4–6: sc around (18)
Change to cream:
Rnd 7 (froth edge): (sc, ch 1, skip next st) around. FO.
Cut a small circle of felt or crochet a flat circle from brown to tuck inside as “cocoa surface,” or simply leave open with stuffing.
Stuff lightly so mug holds shape.
Handle
With brown, ch 8, hdc in 2nd ch from hook and across, FO. Curve into a C-shape and sew to side of mug.
Crossbody Strap
With brown, ch long enough to go across bunny’s body (about 60–70 ch depending on your yarn, measure on your doll). FO. Sew ends to opposite sides at top of mug so it hangs diagonally at the hip.
Gingerbread Cookie
Use gingerbread-brown yarn.
Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Rnd 2: (sc, inc) x 3 (9)
Now work flat shaping for a simple cookie figure:
Row 3 (legs): ch 1, turn, sc in first 3 sts, ch 1, skip next 3 sts, sc in last 3 sts (6 sc + ch-1 gap)
Row 4: ch 1, turn, sc in 3 sts, work 3 sc in ch-1 space (for crotch), sc in last 3 sts (9)
Row 5 (arms): ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 sts, ch 4, skip next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, ch 4, skip next 2 sts, sc in last st.
Row 6: ch 1, turn, sc across including all ch sts (approx 13–15 sts; keep shape neat rather than count perfect).
Row 7–8: ch 1, turn, sc across, decreasing 1 st on each side every row to taper head slightly. FO.
Using white yarn, embroider simple icing lines on arms and legs and three dots down the body. Embroider tiny black eyes and a smile with dark yarn.
Assembly
- Attach Head to Body
- Center the head over the neck opening. Sew in a tight spiral, adding extra stuffing to the neck as you go so the head is stable.
- Sew Ears
- Place ears symmetrically on top of the head, slightly angled outward. Sew bases securely.
- Attach Arms
- Position arms on either side of the body, just below the neckline of the sweater. Sew in place, making sure they can rest naturally holding the mug strap or cookie.
- Attach Tail
- Sew the small puff tail centered on the back, slightly above the lower body.
- Face Embroidery
- With black thread/yarn, embroider a small vertical line between the eyes, then a simple “Y” or curved line down for the mouth.
- With pink yarn, stitch a tiny triangular nose and add a few small blush circles on the cheeks if desired.
- Dress and Style
- Put on the sweater.
- Slide the pinafore up from the feet, settle the waistband at the bunny’s waist, then cross and sew straps at the back.
- Put on the shoes, fastening straps across the top of each foot.
- Place the beret on the head, slightly tilted to one side. You can secure with a few stitches if the bunny will be handled a lot.
- Hang the cocoa mug bag across the body so it sits at one side.
- Place the gingerbread cookie at the bunny’s feet or sew lightly to one hand for display.
Finishing & Styling
- Gently shape all parts with your hands to emphasize the rounded head, soft tummy, and slightly bent arms.
- Trim any visible yarn ends and fluff the stuffing inside if needed.
- For photo-ready realism, pose your Christmas Cocoa Barista Bunny on a wooden table or sofa, add a blurred background of fairy lights or a small crochet tree, and let the detailed stitches and tiny accessories shine.
Your cozy bunny barista is ready to serve hot cocoa all season long!
