Materials

  • Sport or light DK weight yarn (smooth cotton or cotton blend works best):
    1. Bunny body & legs: warm cream or light beige
    2. Nose: light brown
    3. Sweater: muted olive/forest green
    4. Pinafore dress: soft beige
    5. Shoes: brick red/rust
    6. Beret: chocolate brown
    7. Crossbody bag: mustard/yellow-ochre
  • Crochet hook: 2.25–2.75 mm (adjust to match gauge and achieve tight fabric)
  • 6 mm black safety eyes
  • Polyester fiberfill stuffing
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Sewing pins
  • Optional: small brown button for bag flap (or embroider a “button” with yarn)

Gauge & Finished Size

  • Approximate gauge: 7–8 sc per 1″ (2.5 cm) in the round with body yarn.
  • Finished height: about 6–7″ (15–18 cm) tall, depending on yarn and hook.

Gauge is not critical as long as your stitches are tight enough that stuffing does not show.

Construction Overview

Cupboard Nook Bunny is made in classic amigurumi style:

  1. Bunny body – Head, body, arms, legs, and tail are crocheted separately and sewn together. Ears are long and softly curved.
  2. Clothing – An olive pullover sweater is crocheted as a separate piece. The beige pinafore dress has a straight skirt, a front bib, and two straps that button or stitch to the back.
  3. Accessories – The chocolate beret fits snugly on the head, slightly tilted. Brick-red Mary Jane shoes slip onto the feet. A tiny mustard crossbody bag is worn diagonally across the body.

Work firmly, keep your tension even, and stuff as you go for a neat, well-shaped plush.

Assembly

  1. Join head to body: Pin the head to the top opening of the body, ensuring the face points forward and the body is centered. Sew around the opening, pulling the seam snug.
  2. Attach legs: Position legs at the bottom sides of the body so the bunny can sit on a small stool or flat surface. Sew along the top of each leg, shaping them to angle slightly forward.
  3. Attach arms: Sew arms on either side of the body, just below the neck, angling slightly forward so the bunny can “hold” a tiny book or cup when posed.
  4. Attach ears: Pin the flattened ears to the top of the head, slightly forward and fairly close together, matching the elongated upright look. Sew all around the base of each ear.
  5. Attach tail: Sew the tail low on the back of the body to help with balance when sitting.

Weave in all ends before dressing your bunny.

Olive Sweater

Use muted olive yarn.

Rnd 4–6: ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st (54, 3 rnds)

Row 2–3: ch 1, sc across, turn (36)

Row 8: ch 1, sc 8, turn.

Strap: ch 6, sl st into 3rd st from beginning of row 8 to form a small loop over the instep.

FO, weave in ends. Put both shoes on and adjust straps so they sit like small Mary Janes.

Chocolate Beret

Rnd 2: inc around (12)
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) around (18)
Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) around (24)

Rnd 10 (brim): BLO, (2 sc, dec) around (18)

Mustard Crossbody Bag

Use mustard yarn.

Bag Body

Ch 9.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (8), turn.
Row 2–6: ch 1, sc across (8), turn.

FO, leave a long tail. Fold the rectangle so row 1 meets row 6, forming a small pouch. Sew side seams.

Flap

Reattach yarn at back edge of the top opening.

Row 1: ch 1, sc across 8 sts, turn (8)
Row 2: ch 1, dec, 4 sc, dec, turn (6)
Row 3: ch 1, dec, 2 sc, dec, turn (4)
Row 4: ch 1, sc 4, FO

Sew a tiny brown button or embroider a dot near the tip of the flap.

Strap

Ch 40–45 (long enough to cross diagonally across the bunny’s body). FO. Sew each end of the chain to the sides of the bag. Put the strap over one shoulder so the bag rests at the opposite hip, as in the concept.

Dressing & Final Posing

  1. Put the sweater on first, sliding it up from the feet and positioning the armholes.
  2. Slip the pinafore onto the bunny, aligning the bib centered on the chest and straightening the straps over the shoulders.
  3. Add the shoes, adjusting the straps to sit neatly across the top of each foot.
  4. Place the beret toward one side of the head for that cozy, artistic look.
  5. Finally, put on the crossbody bag, resting it against the front of the pinafore.

Your Cupboard Nook Bunny is now ready to sit in a tiny wooden nook, holding a miniature book or cup in her hands, surrounded by warm light and cozy cottagecore vibes.
