Introduction

Meet the Bubble Tea Stroll Tabby: a city-chic amigurumi cat wearing a cream sweater dotted with tiny “boba pearl” bobbles, a smoky-mauve pleated skirt, warm brown loafers, and a soft lavender–smoke bucket hat. The star accessory is a crossbody bubble-tea handbag—a crochet “clear cup” with black pearl bobbles inside and a straw lid.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Form & Proportion Analysis

  • Finished height: ~10 in (25 cm) using DK cotton + 2.5 mm hook.
  • Head: Round–oval with soft cheek rise; eyes set low and wide (8 mm), about 8 stitches apart, line between head Rnds 13–14. Small oval cream muzzle with subtle smile; triangular nose.
  • Ears: Upright triangles with a light inner ear patch; placed high and slightly outward.
  • Body: Compact cylinder; natural waist near Body Rnd 12, giving a fitted look under the sweater.
  • Arms: Slim tubes; lightly stuffed at the hand only so they drape.
  • Legs/Feet: Straight legs planted in rounded loafers; flat soles for stable posing when supported.
  • Tail: Medium length, gentle curve to one side for balance.
  • Outfit:
    1. Sweater: Cream, standard crew neck; bobble rows spaced evenly for a boba-pearl effect.
    2. Skirt: Smoky-mauve A-line with stitched pleat ridges (BLO + surface lines).
    3. Shoes: Brown-milk loafers with saddle strap and almond toes; cream sock peeks.
    4. Hat: Smoky-lavender bucket, short crown with downturned brim.
    5. Bag: Bubble-tea cup: translucent-look mesh body, black bobble pearls, cream lid with straw, thin cream crossbody strap.

Stitch density is tight—about 8 sc per 1 in (2.5 cm)—for crisp shaping. Angles: ears slightly outward; arms a touch forward; tail placed low-back, curving left.

Markings & Details

Tabby Stripes (C2 or C6)

  • Forehead: three short bars from center top toward eyes.
  • Cheeks: two small diagonal ticks per side.
  • Arms/Tail: 1–2 narrow bands around.
Use split strands for slim, tidy lines.

Eye Highlights

Add one tiny stitch in C1b at the upper outer quadrant of each eye.

Assembly & Dressing

Order

  1. Put on the sweater first; the neckline stretches gently.
  2. Pull up the pleated skirt; waistband fits at the natural waist.
  3. Attach arms (if not already) angled a touch forward.
  4. Put on loafers; add the sock rim row if desired.
  5. Set the bucket hat low but clear of ears; tack at two points.
  6. Hang the bubble-tea bag crossbody; pearls should show through the mesh.

Blocking, Styling & Care

  • Hover-steam the skirt hem and the hat brim to relax them—do not press flat.
  • Pinch shoe toes while warm to keep almond shape.
  • Spot clean; air dry.
  • For photos, seat the cat on a wooden table near a window; angle the cup so the “pearls” are visible.

Troubleshooting

  • Head wobble: Before sewing head to body, crochet a short neck peg (6 sc around × 4–5 rnds) and insert between pieces.
  • Sweater tight at underarm: On the divide round, use ch-5 instead of ch-4; on the next body round, add 2 extra sts under each arm.
  • Skirt too snug/loose: Adjust waistband chain by ±2; keep increases evenly distributed so pleats remain symmetrical.
  • Hat covers ears: Remove the last increase round (stop crown at 24–30 sts) or snug with one final sl-st edging.
  • Bag collapses: Add a hidden circle of scrap crochet inside the lid or a thin blocked swatch at the base to stiffen.

Quick Reference (Counts at a Glance)

  • Head: max 42; eyes at R13–14, 8 sts apart; close at 12.
  • Ears: to 10 sts; flattened triangles.
  • Body: max 36 → waist 24 → close at 6.
  • Arms: 9-st tubes → taper to 7.
  • Legs/Shoes: sole 18; leg tube 12 → 8.
  • Tail: 6 → 9 sts; slight curve.
  • Sweater: ring 56; sleeve gaps 12 sts; bobble rows at R7/R9/R11; sleeve 22 → 19 with cuff trim.
  • Skirt: waist 48; flare to 96; pleat ridges at waistband and R11 + 12 surface lines.
  • Hat: crown to 30; brim to 50.
  • Bag: base 18; mesh 4 rounds; lid disc 30; strap ch 90.
