Welcome to the most poetic and nostalgic project in our miniature caravan series. “The Forget-Me-Not Blue Cottage” is a moving tribute to memories, love, and the enduring beauty of nature. This mobile sanctuary is enveloped in a sea of Sky Blue, its walls densely embroidered and appliqued with hundreds of tiny, five-petaled Forget-Me-Not flowers. It feels less like a vehicle and more like a rolling garden of remembrance.
The interior is a maximalist treasure trove of sentimental keepsakes. Lush bushes of Forget-Me-Nots grow in rustic pots, filling the space with their signature blue petals and sunny yellow centers. Amidst the flora, you will find deeply personal items: a golden locket holding pressed dried flowers, a stack of delicate white handkerchiefs embroidered with care, and a vintage watering can ready to tend to the blooms. A trailing blue silk ribbon weaves through the scene, tying everything together.
Outside, nature has claimed the space. A vibrant Blue Tit bird, with its distinctive yellow belly and blue cap, perches happily on the roof. Nearby stands an old-fashioned mailbox, its post wrapped in flowering vines, perhaps waiting for a love letter from the past. This project is a labor of love, requiring patience for the tiny floral details, but the result is a breathtaking heirloom.
To ensure the caravan walls can support the texture of the embroidered flowers and the weight of the bird without buckling, we will strictly use the “3-Layer Sandwich Method” (Yarn – Plastic Canvas – Yarn). This technique creates the rigid, box-like structure necessary for a high-quality display piece. We will use a standard hook for the main shell and a precision micro-hook for the hundreds of tiny flowers and the jewelry details.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

- Dc: Double Crochet
- Inc: Increase (2 sc in one st)

Part 1: The Cottage Structure (Sandwich Method)
Use Hook Size: 2.5mm
1. The Wooden Floor Base
Make 2 identical panels using Wood Brown.
- Row 1: Ch 26. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (25)
- Row 2-40: Sc across. (Rectangle approx 4″ x 6.5″).
- Fasten off Panel 1. Keep yarn attached to Panel 2.
Assembly: Cut plastic canvas to the exact size. Sandwich it between the two brown panels. Sc around the perimeter through both layers to seal. This creates a solid foundation.
2. The Sky Blue Shell (U-Shaped)
This forms the Left Wall, Roof, and Right Wall. The texture is the most important part here.
Panel A: Exterior (Sky Blue)
- Row 1: Ch 91 (Length to cover Left Side + Roof + Right Side). Sc across. (90)
- Row 2-35: Sc across. Keep tension even.
- Window Cutouts: On the side wall sections, create rectangular window openings (Ch 10, Sk 10).
- The “Forget-Me-Not” Texture: Before assembling, you have a choice.
Option A (Embroidery): Use Blue yarn to embroider hundreds of 5-point stars all over the panel, with French Knots in yellow for centers.
Option B (Applique – Recommended): Crochet individual flowers (see Part 2) and glue/sew them densely over the walls. This creates the “bumpy” texture seen in the image.
- Fasten off.
Panel B: Interior (Sky Blue or White)
- Use Sky Blue or White. Match dimensions and window gaps of Panel A.
Assembly:
- Cut plastic canvas strip (with window holes).
- Sandwich canvas between Panel A and Panel B.
- Join: Sc around the perimeter through both layers.
- Shape: Bend into a U-shape arch. Sew the bottom edges to the Floor Base.
- Back Wall: Create a solid Sky Blue sandwich panel to close the back.
