The “Plant Mom” Greenhouse – Free Crochet Pattern

Welcome to the ultimate sanctuary for foliage lovers! If your real-life home is slowly turning into a jungle, you will adore this “Plant Mom” Greenhouse Caravan. This project captures the “Crazy Plant Lady” aesthetic perfectly, featuring a pristine white caravan that serves as a mobile conservatory. The exterior is simple and clean, but the roof is overgrown with lush, cascading Pothos vines, hinting at the botanical wonders inside.

The interior is a maximalist dream, packed with popular houseplants. You will find giant Monstera Deliciosa plants with split leaves in woven baskets, tall Snake Plants reaching for the ceiling, and delicate trailing plants suspended in macrame hangers. We haven’t forgotten the essential tools: a bronze misting bottle and a sleek miniature humidifier to keep the humidity just right. Outside, a mischievous ginger cat plays with a fallen Monstera leaf next to a tiered propagation station showing off new cuttings. This playset is fresh, green, and full of life.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Materials & Tools

  • Yarn: Sport or DK weight cotton yarn (Mercerized cotton is highly recommended for leaf definition).

    Clean White: Caravan shell, humidifier.

Plant Greens: Forest Green (Monstera), Sage Green (Snake Plant), Lime/Variegated (Pothos vines).

Earth Tones: Light Brown (baskets), Dark Brown (soil), Beige (macrame).

    Ginger/Orange & Cream: The Cat.

    Bronze/Gold: Misting sprayer.

    Icy Blue/Clear: Propagation jars.

  • Hooks:

2.5mm (Size C/2): For the main caravan structure, floor, and large baskets.

1.5mm (Steel Hook): CRITICAL for the tiny plant leaves, propagation jars, and the cat’s details.

  • Structure: 6 sheets of Plastic Canvas (7-mesh stiffness).
  • Other: Fiberfill stuffing, green floral wire (essential for posing plant stems), tapestry needle, fabric glue.

  • Hdc: Half Double Crochet
  • Dc: Double Crochet
  • Tr: Treble Crochet

Part 1: The Greenhouse Structure (Sandwich Method)

Use Hook Size: 2.5mm

1. The Wood-Look Floor

Make 2 identical panels using Light Brown yarn.

  1. Row 1: Ch 26. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (25)
  2. Row 2-40: Sc across. (Rectangle approx 4″ x 6.5″).
  3. Fasten off Panel 1. Keep yarn attached to Panel 2.

Assembly: Cut a piece of plastic canvas to the exact size of the crochet rectangle. Sandwich it between the two brown panels. Sc around the perimeter through both layers to seal. This creates a sturdy floor that won’t sag.

2. The White Shell (U-Shaped)

This forms the Left Wall, Roof, and Right Wall. It must be very rigid.

Panel A: Exterior (White)

  • Row 1: Ch 91 (Length to cover Left Side + Roof + Right Side). Sc across. (90)
  • Row 2-35: Sc across.
  • Window Cutouts: On the side wall sections, you can create “Split Leaf” shaped windows if desired, or simple rectangular ones. To make a split-leaf window: Sc to position, Ch 10, Sk 10, Sc to end. Next row: Work into chains. We will shape it with green trim later.
  • Fasten off.

Panel B: Interior (White)

  • Repeat Panel A exactly. The interior must be white to reflect light onto the plants.

Assembly:

  • Cut plastic canvas strip (cutting out any window holes).
  • Sandwich canvas between Panel A and Panel B.
  • Join: Sc around the perimeter through both layers using White yarn.
  • Shape: Bend into a U-shape arch. Sew the bottom edges to the Floor Base.

3. The Living Roof (Pothos Vines)

Use 2.5mm Hook for the mesh base, 1.5mm for leaves.

  • Base Net: With Dark Green, crochet a loose mesh (Ch 5, sk 2, sc) that fits over the top of the roof. Sew this down.
  • Cascading Vines: With Variegated Green yarn, Ch 30 (make some longer, some shorter).

Leaf Pattern: *Sl st in next ch, (Hdc, Dc, Hdc) in next ch, Sl st in next* repeat down the chain.

  • Assembly: Make 15-20 vines. Sew them densely onto the roof net, allowing them to drape down over the front windshield and the open sides.

Part 2: The Indoor Jungle (Maximalism)

IMPORTANT: Switch to 1.5mm Hook and thin yarn. Detail is everything.

Row 2 (Fenestrations): Work around the other side. *Sc, Ch 3, Sk 2, Sc* to create the famous holes.

Wire: Glue a thin green floral wire to the back of each leaf stem.

  • Assembly: Bundle the wired stems and plant them in the basket. Fan them out towards the “light”.

2. Snake Plant (Sansevieria)

  • Pot: Beige Rattan style. MR 6 sc, Inc to 12. BLO Sc up. Sc 4 rows.

  • Installation: Sew the top of the hanger to the interior ceiling.

  • Tail: Ch 8, Sc back. Sew to rear, curved upwards.
  • Stripes: Use Dark Orange thread to embroider stripes on the back and tail.

2. Tiered Propagation Station

Use Hook Size: 2.5mm for shelf, 1.5mm for jars.

  • Shelf Frame: Light Brown.

Shelves: Ch 10, Sc 2 rows. Make 3.

Sides: Ch 12. Sc 1 row. Make 2 ladder sides. Glue shelves between them.

  • Propagation Jars (Make 3): Icy Blue or Clear yarn.

Jar: MR 4 sc. BLO Sc around. Sc 2 rounds. (Tiny cylinder).

Cutting: Glue a tiny green stem (Ch 3) with one leaf into the jar.

  • Assembly: Glue the jars onto the shelves.

3. Exterior Details

  • Wheels: Black tires (20 sc round), White hubcaps. Sew to sides.
  • Hitch: White triangle wedge sewn to front.

Final Assembly

  1. Structural Check: Ensure the U-shaped shell is sturdy. The plastic canvas core is essential to support the weight of the roof vines.
  2. Interior Landscaping:
    • Glue the large Monstera basket to the left floor.
    • Place the Snake Plant on the right.
    • Hang the Macrame planter from the ceiling hook.
    • Place the Humidifier and Mister on the floor or a small ledge.
  3. Exterior Styling:
    • Stand the Propagation Shelf next to the caravan door.
    • Position the Ginger Cat playing with the leaf in front of the wheel.
    • Fluff the roof vines so they look wild and overgrown.

Congratulations! You have grown your own “Plant Mom” Greenhouse. This caravan is a lush, botanical escape that needs zero watering!
