The Hawaii Piggy – Free Crochet Pattern

Aloha! Get ready to feel the warm tropical breeze and hear the gentle strumming of a ukulele. “The Hawaii Piggy” is here to bring the spirit of an island vacation right into your home. This cheerful amigurumi character is the ultimate hula dancer, radiating happiness and summer vibes.

This adorable piglet features a sun-kissed peach-pink complexion and a joyful expression. She is dressed ready for a luau in a traditional Hula outfit. Her skirt is a masterpiece of movement, made from flowing fringes of Lime Green and Straw Yellow yarn to mimic a real grass skirt. On top, she wears a modest halter top adorned with a bright hibiscus flower. No hula girl is complete without her floral accessories; she wears a vibrant, multi-colored Lei garland around her head and neck. Her feet are protected from the hot sand by cute flip-flops decorated with tiny blooms. In her hands, she strums a miniature Ukulele, playing the songs of the sea. Joining her for the party is the coolest sidekick on the island: a ripe Pineapple wearing sunglasses, ready to chill.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the pig body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished pig stands approximately 28 cm (11 inches) tall. The grass skirt is created using a latch-hook fringe method for maximum sway.

Construction Overview

The pig is constructed in pieces. The legs are made first and joined to form the body. The head is a sphere with a distinct sewn-on snout. The grass skirt is built on a crocheted waistband, with yarn strands attached individually. The leis are made using small flower clusters. The accessories—ukulele, flip-flops, and pineapple—are detailed miniatures.
