The Doll Collector Bear – Free Crochet Pattern

This exquisite Polar Bear features pristine white fur and a gentle, refined expression. She is dressed in a stunning Victorian-style gown in a deep, rich Burgundy. The dress is characterized by its high-necked lace collar and romantic puffy sleeves. Over her dress, she drapes a delicate black lace capelet that adds an air of mystery and vintage charm. She wears sturdy, lace-up ankle boots in brown—stylish yet practical for walking to the antique market.

Her most prized accessory is a vintage-style “Tapestry” handbag embroidered with floral motifs. Peek inside, and you will see her treasure: a microscopic “Tiny Doll” bear dressed just like her. Sitting faithfully by her side is her companion, a small white shorthair cat wearing a dapper black bow tie. This pattern is an advanced project perfect for those who love detailed wardrobe construction.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the bear body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished main bear stands approximately 28–30 cm (11–12 inches) tall. The clothing is designed to be removable, except for the boots which are best sewn on for stability.

Construction Overview

The project consists of several distinct components. The main Polar Bear is constructed from the legs up. The Victorian dress is a detailed garment featuring puffy sleeves and a full skirt. The black capelet is worked in a lace pattern. The boots are shaped to look like leather ankle boots with laces. The Tapestry Bag is crocheted in a solid color and then embroidered to mimic needlepoint fabric. The Mini Bear is a micro-crochet project, and the Cat is a separate seated amigurumi.
