The Candy Shop Mouse – Free Crochet Pattern

Welcome to the sweetest corner of the crochet world! “The Candy Shop Mouse” is a whimsical character bursting with sugar-coated charm and pastel perfection. Inspired by the nostalgia of old-fashioned confectionery stores, this little mouse is ready to serve up smiles.

Our delightful shopkeeper features soft white fur and large, attentive ears lined with a gentle pink. Her fashion sense is pure candy-coated joy. She wears a striking Peppermint-inspired dress featuring vertical pink and white stripes, reminiscent of classic hard candies. Her outfit is topped with a wide, scalloped “Peter Pan” collar adorned with a fresh mint-green bow. Framing her sweet face is a ruffled bonnet in soft powder pink. She steps lively in bright red shoes, ready to reach the highest shelves. Her accessories are a treat in themselves: a “glass” crochet jar filled with colorful jelly beans, a giant swirl lollipop, and her tiny companion—a translucent-style Gummy Bear made from variegated yarn. This pattern is a treat for intermediate crocheters who love colorwork and kawaii details.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the mouse body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished mouse stands approximately 26–28 cm (10–11 inches) tall. The clothing is designed to be removable for dress-up play.

Construction Overview

The mouse is constructed in pieces. The legs are made first starting with the red shoes and joined to form the body. The head is round with a slightly pointed snout. The dress is the most unique part: the skirt is worked sideways in rows to create vertical stripes (like a peppermint candy) and then gathered at the waist. The bonnet is worked with a ruffled brim. The accessories—lollipop, jar, and gummy bear—are detailed miniatures.
