The Sleepytime Sheep – Free Crochet Pattern

The character features a soft, light beige face and a body made of textured white “bouclé” style yarn, giving it a huggable, cloud-like appearance. She is dressed in a serene baby blue nightgown, delicately embroidered with shimmering moons and stars along the hem. To stay warm, she wears a creamy white robe tied loosely at the waist and a classic long-tailed nightcap topped with a fluffy pompom. Her feet are tucked into adorable “cloud” slippers, and she carries a lace-trimmed pillow and a tiny teddy bear companion. This pattern is perfect for intermediate crocheters who love working with different yarn textures and creating detailed miniature wardrobes.

Gauge & Finished Size

Because this pattern mixes smooth and textured yarns, gauge is not critical as long as your stitches are tight enough to hold stuffing. If using the suggested hook sizes, the finished sheep should stand approximately 28 cm (11 inches) tall. The nightgown and robe are designed to be removable.

Construction Overview

The sheep is constructed in pieces. The head starts with the smooth beige face and transitions into the fluffy wool cap. The body is worked in the fluffy yarn to mimic a real sheep’s coat. The limbs are long and slender. The outfit consists of a blue dress worked in rounds, a robe worked in rows (raglan style), and a nightcap. Accessories are made separately.
