The Honey Baker Bear – Free Crochet Pattern

This charming bear is dressed in a wardrobe inspired by golden honeycombs and flour-dusted countertops. She wears a rustic Mustard Yellow dress, a color reminiscent of the sweet honey she loves so much. Protecting her dress is a pristine cream-colored apron, featuring a sweet scalloped hem and a tiny hand-embroidered cookie on the pocket, showing off her baking expertise. To keep her fur tidy, she wears a classic bonnet tied with a ribbon under her chin. She stands firmly in practical earth-brown Mary Jane shoes. Her accessories tell the story of her day: a tiny oven mitt ready for hot pans, a pot of fresh honey topped with a cloth cover, and a fuzzy little bumblebee friend who has landed on her hat to say hello. This pattern is perfect for intermediate crocheters who enjoy storytelling through handmade dolls.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the bear body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished bear stands approximately 26–28 cm (10–11 inches) tall. The clothing is designed to be removable, allowing for dress-up play.

Construction Overview

The bear is constructed in pieces. The head is round with a sewn-on muzzle. The body is created by joining the legs, ensuring a sturdy standing position. The dress is worked from the waist down for the skirt and waist up for the bodice. The apron is a separate piece worked flat with detailed edging. The bonnet is shaped to fit the head with a wide brim. Accessories are miniatures.
