The Pastry Piggy – Free Crochet Pattern

This adorable piglet is dressed in a confectionery-inspired wardrobe that is as fun to make as it is to look at. She wears a rich, chocolate-brown flared dress that contrasts beautifully with her pastel skin. To keep warm on early morning bread runs, she layers a delicate cream bolero jacket featuring a romantic wavy lace border. Her fashion statement is topped off with a voluminous, oversized Baker Boy hat in a textured beige yarn, giving her that classic artisan look.

She is prepared for a day at the market with her sturdy shoes adorned with bows, a tote bag decorated with colorful donut motifs, and a fresh, crusty baguette held firmly in her trotter. And let’s not forget her little sidekick—a tiny yellow duckling who seems very interested in that bread! This pattern is perfect for intermediate crocheters who enjoy creating detailed outfits and miniature food accessories.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds for the pig body so the stuffing does not show. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished pig stands approximately 26–28 cm (10–11 inches) tall. The clothing is designed to be removable, allowing for dress-up play.

Construction Overview

The pig is constructed in pieces. The head is round with a built-up snout. The body is pear-shaped. The ears are folded triangles. The outfit is the highlight: the dress is a separate piece (or can be crocheted from the waist down if preferred), the bolero is worked in rows with a special lace border, and the hat uses increases to create a “puff” before tightening for the brim. Accessories are miniatures.
