The Harvest Sheep – Free Crochet Pattern

She features a warm, chocolate-brown face that contrasts beautifully with her fluffy, cream-colored woolly body. Her outfit is the epitome of fall fashion: a stunning mustard yellow pinafore dress featuring an intricate raised diamond (rhombus) texture, layered over a soft, cream-white puff-sleeve blouse. To protect her from the autumn sun, she wears a woven-style straw hat adorned with a large, burnt orange bow. Her accessories tell a story of their own: a handmade “wicker” basket overflowing with miniature pumpkins, a fallen red maple leaf held gently in her hand, and a tiny, curious crow friend perched upon her hat. This pattern is perfect for intermediate crocheters looking to add a touch of seasonal warmth to their home.

Gauge & Finished Size

Work tightly in continuous spiral rounds. If using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the finished sheep stands approximately 26–28 cm (10–11 inches) tall. The dress uses a textured stitch, so check the fit against the body as you go.

Construction Overview

The sheep is constructed in pieces. The head combines smooth stitches for the face and Bobble stitches for the woolly cap. The body is textured with Bobbles to mimic fleece. The legs are joined to the body. The outfit is removable: the dress features a special texture pattern, and the hat is a separate accessory. Mini props (pumpkins, bird, leaf) are made separately.
