Materials

    1. Cream (main bunny body)
    2. Brick red / burnt orange (pinafore dress)
    3. Mustard / golden yellow (beret)
    4. Olive green (slippers)
    5. Warm beige (basket)
    6. Light brown (bread rolls – small amount)
  • Pair of 2.75–3 mm (US 2–3) double-pointed needles or circulars for magic loop
  • Small amount of black safety eyes, 6 mm (or embroidery if you prefer)
  • Pink embroidery thread for nose
  • Black or dark brown thread/yarn for eye outlining if desired
  • Tapestry needle
  • Polyester fiberfill stuffing
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors

Gauge & Finished Size

  • Approx gauge: 28 sts x 34 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in stockinette with DK yarn and 2.75–3 mm needles.
  • Finished height: about 4–4.5″ (10–11.5 cm) from toe to ear tips when lightly stuffed.

Exact gauge is not critical, but fabric should be firm enough so stuffing does not show through.

Notes & Construction Overview

  • The bunny is knitted in several pieces: head, body, legs, arms, and ears, then sewn together.
  • The dress, beret, slippers, and basket are separate removable pieces (except that the shoes are snug and may stay on).
  • Work with small needles and tight tension for a neat miniature look.
  • Stuff as you go; small pieces are easier to fill while you still have access.

Work Rnds 18–20: knit around (12 sts) to form a short neck.

Stuff the body firmly, shaping it slightly oval, wider at the base. Break yarn leaving a long tail for sewing to the head. Do not close the top opening; you will ladder-stitch the neck to the head later.

Bunny – Legs (make 2)

Yarn: cream for legs, olive for feet

CO 8 sts in cream. Join in the round.

Rnds 1–5: knit around (8 sts) for the leg.

Change to olive for the shoes.

Rnd 6: kfb around – 16 sts
Rnds 7–8: knit around (16 sts)
Rnd 9: k2tog around – 8 sts

Stuff the foot and leg lightly, keeping the ankle flexible.

Rnd 10: knit around (8 sts)

Break yarn, thread through 8 sts, pull tight to close the sole. Weave in the end securely. The cast-on edge remains open at the thigh for sewing to the body.

Make a second leg in the same way.

Bunny – Arms (make 2)

Yarn: cream

CO 9 sts. Join in the round.

Rnds 1–6: knit around (9 sts).
Rnd 7: k1, k2tog three times – 6 sts

Rnd 8: knit around (6 sts).

Lightly stuff only the lower half of each arm; leave the top soft so it sits nicely against the body.

Break yarn, thread through remaining 6 sts, pull to close the paw end. The cast-on edge at the top will be sewn to the body.

Make a second arm.

Bunny – Ears (make 2, worked flat)

Yarn: cream

CO 4 sts.

Row 1 (RS): k4
Row 2 (WS): p4
Row 3: kfb, k2, kfb – 6 sts
Row 4: p6
Row 5: kfb, k4, kfb – 8 sts

Row 6 (RS): k8
Row 7: p8

Rows 8–13: rep Rows 6–7 three more times (keep 8 sts in stockinette).

Row 14 (RS): k2tog, k4, k2tog – 6 sts
Row 15: p6
Row 16 (RS): k2tog, k2, k2tog – 4 sts
Row 17: p4
Row 18 (RS): k2tog, k2tog – 2 sts
Row 19: p2tog – 1 st

Break yarn, leaving a long tail. Pull through the last stitch to fasten off.

Fold the ear slightly lengthwise and sew a few securing stitches at the base to give a gentle curve.

Make a second ear.

Head & Body Assembly

  1. Position the head on top of the neck opening of the body.
  2. Using the long tail from the body, ladder-stitch around, joining the base of the head to the body’s neck in a neat circle.
  3. Sew ears symmetrically on top of the head, tilting them slightly forward to match the cozy expression.
  4. Place the legs at the bottom of the body, slightly toward the front so Bunny can “stand” with support. Sew them securely.
  5. Attach the arms to the upper sides of the body, just below the head, angling them slightly forward so one paw can hold the basket later.

Face Embroidery

Using pink thread:

  • Stitch a very small triangle nose centered between the eyes, a couple of rounds below them.
  • Optionally add a tiny straight vertical stitch below the nose for a subtle mouth.

If desired, use a single strand of dark thread to lightly outline the top of each eye with a tiny straight stitch to match the expressive look.

Brick-Red Pinafore Dress

Yarn: brick red / burnt orange
Worked in the round for the skirt, then flat for bib and straps.

Skirt

CO 54 sts. Join in the round carefully, pm.

Rnd 1: knit around.
Rnd 2: purl around (this gives a slight hem ridge).
Rnds 3–10: knit around (54 sts).

Rnd 11: k7, k2tog rep around – 48 sts
Rnds 12–14: knit around (48 sts)
Rnd 15: k6, k2tog rep around – 42 sts
Rnds 16–18: knit around (42 sts)
Rnd 19: k5, k2tog rep around – 36 sts
Rnds 20–22: knit around (36 sts)

BO loosely in knit. This top edge sits just under the bunny’s arms.

Front Bib & Straps

Find the center front of the skirt. With RS facing, using brick-red yarn and straight needles (or working back and forth on circulars), pick up and knit 12 sts evenly across the front waistline.

Row 1 (WS): p12
Rows 2–7: work in stockinette (k RS, p WS) on these 12 sts.

Row 8 (RS – divide for straps):
k3, place next 6 sts on a holder, k3.
You now have 3 sts on the right needle for the first strap and 6 center sts on hold, plus 3 sts for the second strap.

First Strap (I-cord look)

Work on the 3 live sts:

Rows 1–18 (or until strap measures about 2–2.25″ / 5–5.5 cm):

  • Knit all 3 sts, then slide them back to the beginning of the needle and pull the yarn firmly across the back (I-cord).

BO the 3 sts. This strap will go over Bunny’s shoulder to the back waistline.

Reattach yarn to the remaining 3 sts (for the second strap) and repeat for the second strap.

Sew strap ends to the back of the skirt at the waistline, spacing them so they sit over the shoulders in a straight line as in the picture.

Slip the dress onto the bunny from the feet up; the skirt should sit neatly around the body, and the bib should cover the front of the torso.

Mustard Beret

Yarn: mustard

CO 6 sts. Join in the round.

Rnd 1: knit
Rnd 2: kfb around – 12 sts
Rnd 3: k1, kfb rep around – 18 sts
Rnd 4: k2, kfb rep around – 24 sts
Rnd 5: k3, kfb rep around – 30 sts
Rnd 6: k4, kfb rep around – 36 sts

Rnds 7–9: knit around (36 sts) – this is the widest part of the beret.

Rnd 10: k4, k2tog rep around – 30 sts
Rnd 11: k3, k2tog rep around – 24 sts
Rnd 12: k2, k2tog rep around – 18 sts

Change to 1×1 rib for the band:

Rnds 13–15: (k1, p1) rep around (18 sts)

BO in rib, not too tightly so the band can stretch around the head.

Little Beret Stem

On the very top center of the beret, pick up 3 sts.

Work 3 rows of I-cord (knit 3, slide back, repeat), then BO. Tuck the ends inside and weave in. Place beret slightly tilted on Bunny’s head.

Olive Slippers

These small slippers are simple and snug; the Mary Jane “strap” is embroidered rather than constructed, to keep the shape clean and tiny.

Yarn: olive
Worked flat, then seamed.

CO 8 sts.

Row 1 (WS): p8
Row 2: kfb, k6, kfb – 10 sts
Row 3: p10
Row 4: kfb, k8, kfb – 12 sts
Row 5: p12

Rows 6–8: knit RS, purl WS (stockinette on 12 sts).

Row 9 (RS): k2tog, k8, k2tog – 10 sts
Row 10: p10
Row 11: k2tog, k6, k2tog – 8 sts
Row 12: p8

Break yarn leaving a long tail. Fold the piece so short edges meet at the back; sew the back seam and then across the sole, stuffing the toe very lightly if you like a rounded shape. Leave ankle opening unsewn.

Slide each slipper over a foot. With a strand of olive or slightly darker green yarn, embroider a tiny horizontal line across the instep on each foot to imitate the Mary Jane strap that appears in the photo.

Bread-Basket Tote & Mini Rolls

Basket Tote

Yarn: warm beige

CO 6 sts.

Row 1 (WS): p6
Row 2: kfb across – 12 sts
Row 3: p12
Row 4: k1, kfb rep across – 18 sts
Row 5: p18
Rows 6–8: knit RS, purl WS (stockinette on 18 sts).

BO loosely.

Form the basket into a small cylinder by sewing the short cast-on and bind-off edges together as a side seam. Using the cast-on tail, weave around the base and pull gently to round it, closing any small gap.

For a slightly thicker rim, with RS facing, pick up and knit 18 sts evenly around the top edge of the basket.

Row 1: k1, p1 rib around
Row 2: k1, p1 rib around

BO in rib.

Basket Handle

CO 30 sts in beige.

Rows 1–2: knit.
BO.

Sew each end of this narrow strip to opposite sides of the basket’s rim so it forms a small rounded handle that Bunny can carry over one arm.

Tiny Bread Rolls (make 3–4)

Yarn: light brown

CO 5 sts.

Rows 1–3: knit every row (garter stitch).
Row 4: k2tog, k1, k2tog – 3 sts
Row 5: knit

Break yarn, leaving a tail. Thread it through the 3 sts and pull snug to close one end. Roll the strip from the cast-on edge toward the closed end into a tight spiral, like a cinnamon roll, and stitch in place with the yarn tail.

Make several and stitch them lightly inside the basket so they peek out just like in the scene.

Final Assembly & Styling

  • Place the pinafore dress on the bunny and adjust the straps so they sit nicely over the shoulders.
  • Slip on the olive slippers and position the embroidered “straps” across the top of each foot.
  • Put the mustard beret on the head, slightly tilted for a charming, cozy look.
  • Loop the basket handle over one arm or into a paw so it looks like Autumn Bakery Bunny has just taken warm rolls out of her tiny oven.

Your miniature Autumn Bakery Bunny is now ready to star in her own tiny kitchen photoshoot, surrounded by real miniature wooden, metal, and ceramic props to match the cozy cottagecore world.
