Meet the Matcha Barista Bunny – a soft pastel bunny doll with a cozy ribbed beanie, textured pinafore dress over a simple cream sweater, brown Mary Jane shoes, and the cutest accessories: a crossbody matcha cup bag, a tiny take-away cup of matcha with whipped cream, and a little crochet spoon to stir it all up.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Materials
- Sport or light DK weight yarn in:
- Cream (main bunny color)
- Soft matcha green (dress, hat, bag, cup)
- Light beige (undershirt)
- Dark brown (shoes)
- White (whipped cream, cup lid, spoon details)
- Small amount of black or dark brown embroidery thread for face
- Crochet hook: 2.5–2.75 mm (or size needed for tight, neat stitches)
- 8 mm safety eyes (pair)
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers and pins for assembly
- Optional: 2 tiny buttons for the dress straps, 1 tiny button for the back of the undershirt
With this yarn and hook, the bunny is approximately 24–26 cm (9.5–10 in) tall, standing.
Gauge & Notes
Exact gauge is not critical, but your stitches should be firm enough that stuffing does not show. As a reference, 5 sc x 5 rows in BLO with a 2.5 mm hook should measure about 1 inch square.
The bunny is worked in separate pieces (head, body, arms, legs, ears, tail) and then sewn together. Clothes and accessories are removable.
Construction Overview
- Legs are worked first, then joined and built up into the body.
- The head is worked separately and sewn to the body.
- Arms, ears, and tail are made and attached afterward.
- The cream undershirt is a simple top worked in turned rows and seamed at the back.
- The pinafore dress uses BLO rows for a vertical ribbed skirt with a flat bib and straps.
- The beanie hat is worked top-down with a folded ribbed brim.
- Mary Jane shoes are made in the round and slip over the feet.
- The crossbody bag, matcha cup, and spoon are tiny accessories worked in simple cylinders and small shapes.
Bunny Pattern
Use cream yarn for the bunny unless otherwise noted.

- Attach ears on top of the head, slightly angled outward and forward.
- Sew the small tail low on the back.
Weave in all yarn ends securely.
Clothing
Cream Undershirt
Use light beige yarn. Worked flat from bottom up; fits snugly under the dress.
Chain 32 (this fits around the bunny’s chest).
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (31). Turn.
Rows 2–8: ch 1, sc across (31). Turn.
This forms a simple tube. Wrap around the body to check fit; add or subtract sts if needed, keeping stitch count consistent.
Row 9 (arm shaping):
ch 1, sc 6, ch 4 (skip 4 sts – armhole), sc 11, ch 4 (skip 4 sts), sc remaining 6 (31 including chains). Turn.
Row 10: ch 1, sc across, working 4 sc into each armhole chain (31). Turn.
Rows 11–12: ch 1, sc across (31).
FO, leaving a tail. Sew the back seam closed, leaving the top 2–3 rows with a tiny opening if you want; you can stitch a small button loop with chain stitches and sew on a button at the neckline.
Slide the shirt onto the bunny before adding the dress.
Matcha Pinafore Dress
Use matcha green yarn.
Skirt
Round 1: ch 48, join with sl st to form a ring (do not twist). (48)
Round 2: ch 1, sc in each ch around (48)
Round 3 (BLO): sc around (48)
Rounds 4–12 (BLO): sc around (48)
These BLO rounds create the vertical rib effect seen in the photo.
Round 13 (waist shaping): (6 sc, dec) x 6 in BLO (42)
Round 14 (BLO): sc around (42)
FO. Position the seam at the center back.
Bib & Straps
With matcha yarn and the skirt laying flat, find the center front 12 sts.
Row 1: Attach yarn in the 1st of these 12 sts, ch 1, sc in same st and next 11 sts (12). Turn.
Rows 2–6: ch 1, sc across (12). Turn.
This is the front bib.
For the first strap:
Row 7: ch 1, sc in first 3 sts only (3). Turn.
Rows 8–18: ch 1, sc across (3). Turn.
FO, leaving a tail. Repeat on the opposite side of the bib for the second strap, using the last 3 sts.
Sew each strap to the back waistline of the skirt, crossing them if desired. Add a small button detail to the front top corners of the bib if you like (sew real buttons or embroider little knots).
Dress should sit just below the bunny’s knees, with the ribbed texture prominent.
Beanie Hat
Use matcha yarn.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: inc around (12)
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)

Rounds 7–9: sc around (36)
Round 10 (start brim): BLO sc around (36)
Rounds 11–14 (BLO): sc around (36)
Try the hat on the bunny; fold the brim upward toward the outside so several rows of rib show, matching the look of the photo. FO and weave in ends.

Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: inc around (12)
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)

Round 9: sc around working 1 sc in each ch of the strap (18).
FO, weave in ends. Slide onto the bunny’s feet; the strap can be secured with a small stitch to hold its position if needed.

Rounds 3–6: sc around (12)
Change to cream.
Round 7: sc around (12)

FO and weave in the top, leaving cup open like a little pocket.

Optional: embroider a tiny leaf icon on the front using green or darker thread.

Change to cream.
Round 5: sc around (12)
Round 6: (sc, dec) x 4 (8)
Stuff lightly.
Round 7: dec x 4 (4). Do not fully close; you want a slightly domed top.
Switch to white yarn and work “whipped cream”:
Round 8: (sl st, ch 2, sl st in next st) x 2 to create two small ruffles.
FO and weave in ends.
Tiny Spoon
Use white yarn.
Row 1: ch 5. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc 4. Turn.
Row 2: ch 1, sc 4. Turn.
This forms the handle.
For the spoon bowl:
Row 3: ch 1, rotate to work around the narrow end; in the first st, work (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) all into the same stitch to create an oval. Sl st to one side of the “bowl” to round it off.
FO, weave in tail. You can slightly pinch the bowl with your fingers to curve it.
Final Assembly & Styling
- Dress the bunny in the cream undershirt, then pull the ribbed matcha pinafore up from the feet, settling it at the waist.
- Put on the beanie hat, folding the brim until it sits low on the forehead and around the base of the ears.
- Slip the Mary Jane shoes onto both feet.
- Put the crossbody matcha cup bag over one shoulder so it rests at the hip, just like a little barista’s drink holder.
- Place the handheld matcha cup in one paw and, if you like, sew it lightly to secure it.
- Position the tiny spoon on the table next to the bunny or lightly stitch it to the other paw for a “ready to stir” pose.
Take a moment to gently shape the ears, hat brim, dress folds, and tail so everything looks neat and balanced.
