Introduction

Meet Sailor Boba Bunny—a sweet, photo-ready amigurumi with crisp sailor details and pastel home-studio vibes. This free pattern walks you through every stitch to recreate the exact look in the reference image: a white sailor blouse with two navy stripes and V-tie, a pleated navy skirt, red Mary Jane shoes, a white sailor cap with a navy band and “BOBA,” plus a life-preserver crossbody bag.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Form & Proportion Analysis

  • Overall height: ~9–10 in (23–25 cm) when made with DK/Light Worsted cotton and a 3.0 mm hook.
  • Head: Spherical-oval, about 1.2× the width of the body; widest near rounds 18–22. Safety eyes sit low and wide (about 11 sts apart). The muzzle is embroidered—no separate snout piece.
  • Ears: Long ovals, lightly tapered; height ≈ 70–75% of head height. Ears sit slightly forward and angle outward ~15°. Optional light pink inner detail.
  • Body: Gentle pear shape with a narrow neck and soft belly. Body height ≈ head height.
  • Arms: Slim tubes, lightly stuffed, attached level with the bottom of the collar. Right hand holds a folded map; left hand holds a boba cup.
  • Legs/Feet: Straight cylinders ending in rounded red Mary Jane shoes with a strap. Stance is shoulder-width, toes a touch outward.
  • Outfit:
    1. Top: White sailor blouse with double navy stripes, V-front scarf tie, fitted waist ridge.
    2. Skirt: Navy pleated school skirt, knee length.
    3. Hat: White sailor cap with a navy band and “BOBA” lettering.
    4. Bag: White life-preserver ring with four red wraps on a navy crossbody cord.
  • Accessories: Beige boba cup with lid and short straw (black pearls), seafoam foldable map, and binoculars lying flat on the table.
  • Fabric: Dense single crochet; DK cotton + 2.75–3.0 mm hook creates the correct thickness and crisp edges.
  • Placement: Collar sits above arm joints; skirt begins at the body’s narrowest point; cap centered with a small forward tilt; crossbody strap drops from left shoulder to right hip.

  • Hook: 3.0 mm (or smaller for a tighter fabric)
  • Notions: 8 mm safety eyes, tapestry needle, stitch markers, fiberfill, tiny circle of thin cardstock (cup lid), fabric glue (optional), black embroidery thread.
  • Wire: Not required.

Gauge & Sizing

Tight fabric prevents stuffing from peeking through. Gauge: ~24 sc × 26 rows ≈ 4 in (10 cm) square in the round with a 3.0 mm hook. Size and proportions match the photo at this density.

Map (SF with accents)

Base: ch 20; sc back (19).
Rows 2–6: sc across (19).
Edge with WH sl sts. With pale teal/yellow, embroider abstract islands and a dotted route. Fold loosely and stitch into the right hand so a corner curls naturally.

Binoculars Prop (NV & CH) — for Tabletop Styling

Barrels ×2 (CH): MR 5; 3 rounds sc; fasten, leave tails.
Eyepieces ×2 (NV): MR 6, join to form small discs.
Bridge (NV): ch 6; sl st back.
Join each CH barrel to an NV eyepiece; attach barrels to both ends of the bridge.
Cord (NV): ch 28; sl st back. Sew to the outer sides of barrels. Place the binoculars lying flat on the wooden table next to the bunny.

Assembly

  1. Head to Body: Align centers; whip-stitch the head onto the neck firmly.
  2. Arms: Sew at the side seams just under the collar so hands face forward.
  3. Legs & Shoes: Ensure feet sit flat. Slide on Mary Janes and secure straps.
  4. Ears: Add a pinch of stuffing at the base; sew with a slight outward tilt.
  5. Tail: Attach at lower back beneath skirt hem.
  6. Dress: Put on blouse, then skirt—seat waistband on the BLO ridge and tack in place; tie the navy bow at the V.
  7. Cap: Center and sew with a subtle forward tilt; add the “BOBA” embroidery.
  8. Bag: Drape crossbody and tack so the life ring rests at the right hip.
  9. Props: Stitch cup to left hand and map to right. Lay binoculars flat on the table for the final scene.

Finishing & Styling

  • Light steam the pleated skirt, pinching each fold as you hover the steam to sharpen.
  • Add gentle blush to cheeks.
  • For the photo mood in the reference: place on a light wooden table with a sofa and plant blurred in the background; shoot near a window for soft, natural light and pastel tones.
  • If needed, a tiny dab of fabric glue can keep the map’s corners curled and the strap’s placement consistent.

Care

Spot-clean with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking the hat’s embroidery and the cup lid if you used cardstock reinforcement. Keep out of reach of small children due to tiny parts (eyes, pearls, straw).

Troubleshooting

  • Neck wobble: Before closing the head, insert a short, tightly rolled scrap-fabric dowel between head and body.
  • Skirt pleats relaxing: Increase the number of pleat clusters or apply light spray starch and re-pin while drying.
  • Cap fit: Adjust by ±6 sts at the widest round to make it snug.
  • Cup droops: Anchor the bottom of the cup to the skirt pleat with 1–2 invisible stitches.
