Introduction

Meet the Lemon Poppy-Seed Baker Lamb—a sunny amigurumi lamb in a lemongrass pinafore sprinkled with poppy-dot bobbles, a cream puff-sleeve tee, buttery Mary Jane shoes, and a lemon-tart beret. She carries a tiny flour-sack crossbody with a “Poppy” label

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Form & Proportion Analysis

  • Height: ~9.75–10 in (24–25.5 cm) with DK cotton and a 2.5 mm hook.
  • Head: Round-oval with fluffy fleece texture on the crown only; face panel smooth for expression. Safety eyes (8 mm) sit low and wide—about 8 stitches apart—between Rnds 13–14. A tiny oval nose and soft smile sit ~2 rounds below the eyes.
  • Ears: Drooped, slightly tapered ovals attached just below the fleece line; tips hang near the jaw.
  • Body: Compact pear shape with a gentle tummy; natural waist around Body Rnd 12 so the pinafore sits neatly.
  • Arms/Legs: Slim tubes with rounded ends. Feet fill Mary Janes with cream toe ovals.
  • Outfit:
    1. Pinafore: Lemongrass A-line with bib and crossed straps; skirt sprinkled with small bobble “poppy seeds.”
    2. Tee: Cream, short puff sleeves, small Peter Pan collar edge.
    3. Shoes: Butter-yellow Mary Janes with strap and low edge; cream toe inset.
    4. Beret: Lemon-tart look—slightly domed with a shallow rim and a tiny “whipped-cream” nub.
    5. Bag: Cream flour-sack crossbody with printed-look “Poppy” label (duplicate stitch) and a drawstring top.

Fabric density for the lamb is tight (~8 sc per 1 in). Clothes are a touch looser for drape but remain tidy. Attachments: ears tilt slightly forward; arms slightly forward; legs perpendicular and parallel for stable posing.

Assembly & Dressing

Order

  1. Dress the puff-sleeve tee first.
  2. Slide on the pinafore; cross straps in back and sew.
  3. Put on shoes; tack straps if you want them fixed.
  4. Pop on the beret—slightly tilted so the nub is visible and ears show.
  5. Add the flour-sack bag and position across the chest.

Embroidery & Finishing Touches

  • With C6, add two tiny upward eyebrow ticks above the eyes.
  • Add the lightest cheek blush using duplicate stitches with a pale pinkish cream (optional).
  • If the beret shifts, tack it to the head at two points.
  • Steam-block gently (hover only) to relax skirt hem and collar; avoid flattening bobbles.

Troubleshooting

  • Head wobble: Before sewing the head, crochet a small neck peg (6 sc around × 4–5 rnds) and stitch between body and head.
  • Tee tight at underarm: Use ch-5 instead of ch-4 on the divide round and pick up one extra stitch under each arm on Rnd 6.
  • Beret too big/small: Add or skip one increase round (±6 sts) or change hook by ±0.25 mm.
  • Pinafore rides up: Lengthen straps by +2 chains each or tack side seams to the tee with two hidden stitches.
  • Shoes slipping: Add an extra sc round at the opening or stitch strap ends to the ankle.
