Retro Vinyl DJ Fox – Free Crochet Pattern

Hình ảnh Ghim câu chuyện

Introduction

Meet the Retro Vinyl DJ Fox: a music-loving amigurumi dressed in chocolate straight-leg trousers, a creamy vintage tee with a tiny vinyl record motif, gray low-top sneakers, and a mossy ribbed bucket hat. The crossbody showpiece is a mini record-player bag with a lid and a removable “vinyl” disk

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Form & Proportion Analysis

  • Finished height: ~10 in (25 cm) when made with DK-weight cotton and a 2.5 mm hook.
  • Head: Rounded-oval with a soft wedge at the muzzle; widest around head Rnds 15–19. Eyes sit low and wide (8 mm if using safety eyes) between Rnds 13–14, spaced about 8 stitches apart.
  • Muzzle & mask: Cream muzzle oval sits proud; small black/brown nose at the tip; subtle smile line. A cream triangle/cheek patch peeks below the eyes (made by placing the muzzle slightly high).
  • Ears: Tall fox ears with darker inner edge; set high and slightly outward; visible under the bucket hat.
  • Body: Compact cylinder with gentle taper at the neck; natural waist near Body Rnd 12 for a tidy tee hem.
  • Arms: Slim tubes, lightly stuffed at the hand only; attached slightly forward so the turntable bag strap curves naturally.
  • Legs/Feet: Straight leg tubes set into rounded gray sneakers with defined foxing lines and simple lace bars. Feet are parallel for stable standing when leaned against a prop.
  • Tail: Full fox tail with a cream tip; attaches low back and angles slightly to one side for balance.
  • Outfit:
    1. Trousers: Chocolate brown, straight cut with front crease suggestion (surface stitch) and a clean hem.
    2. Tee: Cream short sleeve; small black circle “vinyl” motif with a tiny colored label at center.
    3. Sneakers: Medium-gray with cream midsole stripe, low collar.
    4. Bucket hat: Moss/olive ribbed crown with a soft downturned brim; size fitted so ears are visible.
    5. Bag: Crossbody record-player with lid, hinge, dial nub, and a disk that lifts out.
  • Stitch density: Tight amigurumi ≈ 8 sc per 1 in (2.5 cm). Clothing a touch looser for drape, still tidy.
  • Attachment angles: Ears slightly outward; arms a touch forward; legs perpendicular; bag strap crosses from left shoulder to right hip at ~45°.

Embroidered Details

  • Ear inner edge: thin C2 line as above.
  • Whisker dots (optional): three tiny seed stitches on each side of the muzzle in C2.
  • Tail stripes (optional): two short C2 bars before the cream tip.

Assembly & Dressing

Order

  1. Dress the tee; the neckline stretches to pass over the head.
  2. Pull on the trousers; adjust hem to sit just above sneakers.
  3. Attach arms (if not already) angled slightly forward.
  4. Put on sneakers and embroider laces.
  5. Seat the bucket hat low but clear of ears; tack at two points.
  6. Hang the record-player bag from left shoulder to right hip; place the disk on the platter (attach with a tiny hidden stitch if you want it fixed).

Blocking, Styling & Care

  • Hover steam at a distance to relax the hat brim and trouser hems; don’t press hard to preserve texture.
  • Shape the muzzle while warm to keep it rounded.
  • Spot clean only; air dry.
  • For photos, lean the fox lightly against a plant pot or speaker; the flat sneaker soles help it stand supported.

Troubleshooting

  • Head wobble: Crochet a neck peg (6 sc around × 4–5 rnds) and insert between head and body before sewing.
  • Tee tight at underarm: When dividing sleeves, use ch-5 instead of ch-4 and pick up 1–2 extra sts on the next round.
  • Hat hides ears: Remove one increase round (stop crown at 30 sts) or tighten tension; brim should start above ear line.
  • Bag lid floppy: Add one extra row to the lid lip or surface-stitch a ridge around the lid edge.
  • Sneakers slipping: Add a round of sc inside the shoe opening or tack shoes to legs with two hidden stitches.
